i look at myself in the mirror
it hangs there on the wall
with my reflection staring back at me
my eyes follow the golden locks
framing my face
my ocean blue eyes
shining in the light
with my black lashes
softly caressing my upper cheeks
whenever I blink
my defined cheekbones
and my nearly visible jawline
my eyes find every pimple
and scar covering my face
my dark glasses
sitting on the bridge of my nose
helping me see the beauty
I have been bestowed
my frizzy hair not to be tamed
is a layer above my soft golden hair
with specks of brown here and there
my eyes study the small fraction
of a double chin
that I try so hard to hide
my small red lips with dried skin
that I lick to make smooth again
and my crooked teeth shows
along with the small dimple
on my right cheek
when I laugh
but before I see any of that
I see how beautiful
my imperfections really are
how they define
the aspect of my beauty
how they are my
perfect little imperfections
