Prof David Raft is, and after a lifetime of academic and scientific achievements, he's ready to step aside as the Government's Chief Scientific Advisor. A dangerous new variant of the Coronavirus has ravaged society, and in desperation, the British Government introduced the Forced Retirement Act.

Now on his sixty-fifth birthday, David must choose whether to go out with a bang on the last day of his working life or reveal a long-buried dark secret that could spell the end of the Government's policy and shake the system to its very core. Set against the backdrop of a divided United Kingdom, Retirement Party is a short story told from David's point of view as he's plagued by his own memories and difficult choices--torn between what's best for society and the ones he loves.
