Kya, Sokka's twin and Katara's older sister sets off on a journey through the Earth Kingdom with Zuko and Iroh in hopes of being able to spark a change in the world, even if on the outside it may be a small insignificant one. As she struggles to choose between her logic and her emotions, Kya learns more of herself past the calm, and expressionless person she once was not to long ago, and along the way she discovers a sense of happiness she never felt before, a feeling she couldn't understand. Hello there Reader! Hurioaki here! Sooo this past week has been crazy and shit. Can I say shit? No? Ok. Anyways, this past week has been crazy. I'm just trying to prove myself, and I get maimed for it, then I'm taken out of my house, dropped under a tree, sent on my way, and I pass out in front of a tea shop. At least Uncle Mushi is nice, even though that's not his actual name. Zuko's a bit emotionally unstable, but that's his own issue. Oh. One last thing, they all think I'm a dude. Don't suggest otherwise.

Kya has heard the legend before, almost everybody has. Most often, it was told before bed, when her parents soothing voices would lull her to sleep. However, when her great uncle Iroh pulls out the Painted Lady's personal "diary," Kya finds more than just a bedtime story hidden within the writing. The Painted Lady was given a job along with an offer she couldn't refuse. The problem wasn't that she had to capture a fellow vigilant, however. The problem was who that vigilante happened to be.
