Equality is corrupted.
There is no such thing as
'Freedom and justice for all'.
It's more like
'Freedom and justice for
The tone of one's skin and
What lies between their legs.'
Women walk more armed
Than the protectors of
Our own country.
People of color,
Women,
And the LGBTQ+'s
Tremble with fear.
It's not because of weakness.
It's fear
For their lives.
Their families.
Themselves.
Fear that they may not make it
Without a fight
To be heard
And
Seen.
All because of what?
An aspect of themselves they
Cannot control.
To be in fear of being
Disowned,
Forgotten,
Killed.
Torn apart limb by limb
by society.
No.
This country is not
Free.
We are people,
Too.
