you stop in your tracks
you heard his footsteps getting closer to you and you help your breath

he puts his hand on your shoulder and you turn around, not making eye contact
he pulled you into a hug, making you drop your cookie, and rested his chin on top of your head.
"I thought my feelings so you went away...but today...I just don't want anything like that, anything bad in general, to happen to you...ever...L-Like the way I felt when we were younger...I want to protect you..."
he hugs you tighter but you just stood there, shocked
"please...don't go back to Xinlong..."

you let's go and looks you in the eye, but you quickly look down
"i'm sorry this was so sudden...I'm willing to wait...fuck, I waited 5 years to tell you three words..."

"You...don't need to answer..."
he sighs and sees your cookie sitting on the sidewalk
"Here...to replace your, um...dead cookie..."
he hands you his cookie but you shake your head and push it back towards him
you break the half that he wasn't holding off
"I...need some time to think..."
he smiled a little and you finally made eye contact with him
"o-okay..."
"Get home safe, okay?...your flight is the same as mine, right? see you tomorrow?"
"y-yeah..."
you give him a little warm smile then headed inside. That had his heart fluttering, and made his cheeks become red and hot
he takes a bite out of his cookie and starts to walk away

he giggles
the next morning you woke up to Hanyu running around your room
"What's wrong?"
"I can't find my passport!"
you sigh and rub your eyes.
"Don't just sit there! Help me!"
you reach over to the table in between your beds and opened the drawer to pull out his passport.

you get back under your blankets and try to fall asleep
"I'd start to get ready if I were you..."

"It's already 5:30."

you guys had to be at the airport by 6 because your flight was at 7:30.

you take a quickly shower and get dressed. you ran out with all of your things to the car and started loading your things

"What am I supposed to do? go back in and dry it?"

you got into the crowded car and your brother started to drive to the airport

Hanyu leans over to you and whispers
"I've been wondering...what happened between you and Xinlong...and uh...Mingrui."

you guys got to the airport and you were carrying a backpack on your back, Gou Ji in one hand, and her bag in the other

all of a sudden, she gasps

she waves and Mingrui who's scrolling on his phone, sitting on his luggage

you try brushing out you hair then turn around

you heard a familiar voice and then saw Xinlong pop up out of no where

"Where's Zihao, Shuyang, and Zeyu?"
"They last night, I'm pretty sure."

"Hey what seat are you guys sitting at?"

"right...um...if you want me to, I can switch with someone else..."

"You sure? I can switch with one of these two."
"No, It's okay. really. Unless y-you're uncomfortable."

Hanyu takes the ticket from Xinlong's hand and give him his
"Good?"
"Aren't you sitting next to Li Fang's mom? Here Mingrui, switch?"
Xinlong switches tickets
"No. Here FangFang, sit next to your mom."
he hands you the ticket and pulls the other one out of your hand. You roll your eyes and stuff the ticket into your pocket
"i just wanna go to sleep..."
you walk to your family and wait around with them
when it was time to board the plane, you got slouched down in your chair
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing nothing...just...tired..."
"why are you sitting here? shouldn't you be sitting in front of me?"
"We uh...switched seats. Hanyu took Xinlong's, Mingrui took mine, and Xinlong took Mingrui's...i'm pretty sure."
"oh...well, get rest."
"Thanks mom..."
you quickly fell asleep as the plane took off
"Hey Mingrui..."
"Yes?"
"So...I heard that-"
"She told you...that I said I liked her...God, I'm so stupid."
"Well, I-"
"Why did i confess? I mean, she was about to go talk to Xinlong and I didn't want her to go. I could have just told her not to go but i went and confessed anyway. I really confessed the day she broke up with her boyfriend."
"Mingrui she-"
"How stupid can i be?"
"Mingrui!"

"Just give her time. Be there for her as a friend. Most importantly, don't rush her or keep bringing it up. Alright?"
"O-Okay..."
"plus...my family always liked you more than Xinlong anyway..."
Mingrui snickers
"Thanks..."
later throughout the flight, you were woken up by Hanyu shaking you
"Lin Li Fang. Hey. Lin Li-"
"Oh my god, what?"
"Can you switch with me please?"
"Why?"
"Mingrui sleeps with his legs wide open and the guy on my left is really big. And you're really small. So can we switch?"
you sigh
"Whatever..."
you get up and sit in his seat. he wasn't kidding when he said the guy on his left was big. He wasn't fat, but he was muscular to the point where the size of his body was kind of gross.
you kept scooting closer and closer to Mingrui
"wha-...Ah!"
Mingrui woke up
"shh!"
"Why are you here?"
"Hanyu wanted to switch, and I highly regret doing it."
"Y-You want to switch seats?"
"No...it's fine. I can just try to fall asleep."
"You sure? I don't mind-"
"It's fine...really..."
the big guy shifts in his seat backing you scoot closer
"Hanyu told you to switch?"
"mhm..."
Mingrui scoffs, now knowing Hanyu did this on purpose
"Well...i'm gonna go back to sleep real quick."
he shuts his eyes
"Wait."
he smirks and opens one eye slightly
"yes?"
"Can I borrow your jacket?"
he snickers
"Sure..."
Mingrui takes off his jacket and hands it to you
"Thanks."
He was expecting you to put it on or use it as a blanket, but you put it in between you and the stranger sitting next to you
"Better..."
"I liked that jacket..."
he mumbled to himself
"What'd you say?"
"oh nothing...go to sleep..."
"okay"
you fell asleep, then was once again woken up by someone shaking you
"What?! I'm not switching seats again!"
"We're home FangFang..."
you gasp and look out the window
"we're....home..."
