Johnny POV
When I woke up I felt good which is a rare assurance considering my mind is a dark place. I tried to sit up when I saw this wasn't my room but Mackenzies. I was about to leave but then I realized it was only 4 in the morning and people are still awake. I just decided to go on my phone until Mackenzie wakes up. "You can move I'm not going to kill you" I heard someone say then I saw Mackenzie looking at me from her bathroom "oh sorry I thought you were sleep" I told her "I don't sleep at night" she said shrugging and turning off her light "a night owl I see" I told her "you can call it that" she said
"I'm sorry" I told her "why" she asked confused "for earlier" I said "I should have defended you I'm sorry" I told her and she just smiled at me "you are about to hurt me aren't you" I asked her and she just laughed "no. It was just cute" she said tucking a piece oh hair behind her ear "you apologized and that's all that matters" she said sitting next to me "you forgive to easy" I said chuckling "I just forgive you" she said flashing her million dollar smile at me "have you ever thought about prom" I asked her "I mean yeah but I'm not going to go" she said "why" I asked "Johnny this is a hospital not a boarding school. They don't just have dances" she explained
"Well I'm still enrolled in school so go with me" I told her "sure" she said obviously not believing me "I'm serious" I said "ok" she said blandly "I'll do a whole promeposal just for you" I told her and she turned red "there will be flowers, singing, food. everything you could ever ask for" I told her "wanna take a picture with me" she asked and I immediately says yes.

"You think I'm super hot" she asked me smirking "don't you" I asked "not really" she said "your perfect" I told her seriously and she stared at me "I'm serious. You look great, you smell great, and your a great person" I told her "I heard your birthday is next month" she said changing the subject "yeah" i replied "you will be 2 years older then me for 4 months" she said "so I will be dating a minor" I said "who said we are dating" she asked "we aren't right now but it will happen" I said "the rules" she said "the rules are just for flexible dating and I'm making sure this is long term" I said smirking "you want this to last a long time" she asked smiling "most definitely" I said "cool" she said laying down on her bed
"Should I sleep in the ground" I asked her "Johnny I don't sleep at night" she said "oh right I forgot" I said falling by her "what exactly do you do all night" I asked "I look at my ceiling and think about what everything could've been" she said looking at her ceiling "that's sad" I said and she just shrugged "how about we think about how everything will be once we are free and happy" I asked her "you really don't wanna face the fact this doesn't just go away instantly" she said "I know it takes time. It's the fact of the mindset, it you want it to go away you have to except it and just act like nothing is going on" "your facing it head on which is causing you to think you are a walking ball of sadness when your just a girl with a problem" I said
"I hate your positivity" she said sitting up "I don't" I told her "can you like stay with me" she asked avoiding my eyes "yeah" I said smiling "really?" She questioned "why not. I'm not going to sleep anytime soon" I said turning on my side spreading my arms out "sooooooo are you just going to sit there or are you going to look at your ceiling with me" I asked her "oh sorry" she said laying back and landing on shoulder "this is our first ever sleepover" she said "I guess" I said intertwining our fingers "what are you doing" she asked looking up at me "I'm getting comfortable. We are going to sleep for once" I told her "I'm not going to sleep but I'll lay here with you" I said
"If your just going to force me to sleep you can leave" she said trying to sit up but I forced her down "just try and if I'm 15 minutes you aren't sleeping I will leave you alone" I whispered in her ear before telling her goodnight. About 10 minutes later I heard soft snoring and since I was awake it definitely wasn't me. "Kenz" I asked softly and I didn't get a response so she was definitely asleep.
That's how my life was for a week. I would only spend extra time in my room but at night I would sleep with Mackenzie and she has actually been sleeping which is good for her considering she used to never sleep. She stopped asking me after 3 days to stay with her because I would just do it like it was apart of my night routine to help her sleep. And everything was good until I had an outburst.
A week later Johnny POV
"Mr.Orlando can I speak to you please" I was asked by one of my nurses "yeah" I said confused "it has come to our attention that you are in some sort of relationship with mrs.Ziegler" he said wanting me to confess "we're friends" I said confused "so you haven't done anything with her like help her sleep" he asked "yes I have" I said confused on what's wrong with that "mr.Orlando that goes against all the rules we have for you special 8. This isn't so we can make you miserable it's so we can help you grow and no one will hold you back" he said "ok. I didn't know" I said "and that's fine but for now on, don't be sleeping with mrs.Ziegler she is a big girl she can handle herself" he said and I just gave him a thumbs up
As I continued my walk to lunch I just processed what I was told. 'If she knew I couldn't help her why would she let me' I asked myself. As I reached the lunch line I just grabbed my food *which was broccoli cheese soup and some sort of cake* and sat down at the furthest table outside. "sit down in the way back so I can't see you" I heard someone say "hi Mackenzie" I said coldly "are you ready for night 8 of watching me sleep" she said giggling expecting me to laugh "it was only a 7 night thing" I told her "oh ok" she said "then should I come to your room" she asked "no. I was just trying to be nice" I said
"Are you ok" she asked "you got me in trouble" I told her "how" she asked confused "I'm not allowed to stay in you room with you" I said and she just made an O shake with her mouth "you ratted me out" I said "I didn't mean to" I said "I'm not hungry" I said standing up "are you seriously going to leave me for making a mistake" she asked and I just shook my head and walked away to my room.
Later that day
"Will all patients that live here please come to the grub hall. Thank you" I heard through the speaker. As I was walking down I saw Mackenzie and her siblings walking down at the same time. I was going to wave to Mackenzie but I had to remember I'm mad at her. "Now they you are all here we have decided that as our next social experiment we want to take you guys to school" one of the teachers said "you will spend 3 days at different schools with a partner of choice. You will present all the data you collected in 2 weeks" she said clapping as we all grabbed a paper
"So it looks like we're partners" I heard a voice say behind me "we are allowed to choose our partners" I said not looking at her "I made a mistake and I'm really sorry" she said grabbing my hands and intertwining it with mine "I have to get the papers" I said "I can come with you" she said "no it's fine" I said. As I went to the front they just asked who's my parter and gave me a paper with a school that looked oddly familiar
"So we got a school in Canada" she said "cool what school" I asked "Robertson, Grant high" she said and I could feel me getting red "you're from Canada right" she asked "um yeah" I said "do you know where this is" she asked "yeah I have no idea" I said shrugging "oh ok" she said smiling. As we finished talking about the school and what we're going to do We just fell into an awkward silence. "See you still mad at me" she asked "I'm not mad. I just don't wanna y'all to you" I told her pulling out my phone and sitting at a 2 persons table "I'm not going to stop until we are good again" she said "Kenz. We are fine I swear" I told her
"Then come hangout with me" she said "I really don't wanna" I said "fine. We don't have to be friends if you don't want to" she said storming off and I just sighed. "Sooooo that was entertaining" Asher said coming up to me with Annie "are you ready to go back t school" he asked me and I just flipped him off "I was expelled. I'm just so ready" I said sarcastically "you decided to smoke" he said "it wasn't mine" I said slamming my hands in the table
"Chill out" Annie said "tell your boyfriend to shut up" I spat at her "watch your tone Orlando" one of the nurses said "what are you gonna do" I asked rolling my eyes "your officer is right outside I will be happy to get him" she said "please do. I think we need to rearrange my agreement" I said being completely serious "I will go get him" she said and I just kept looking at my phone until I heard the clanking of his heavy ass keys. "Are you having a problem with this place John" my office said "can I go back" I asked him "you wanna go back" he asked confused "yes" I said "Johnny we can't do that" he said and I just sighed and walked away to my room.
