Thomas's POV
They dragged us out of the room, down the hallway and practically threw us into our assigned quarters. "Get your asses in there! All of you!" One of the guards yelled.
Once the door shut, everyone instantly turned towards me. "What the hell was that about?" Minho scoffed.
"You didn't really think they were just gonna let you through?" Newt asked.
"No, of course I didn't." I said reaching into my back pocket and taking out the key card I stole. "I'm gonna find out what's on the other side of that door."
I saw them all roll their eyes. "Look, they are hiding something. These people aren't who they say they are. Y/N knew that and now they won't let her go."
"No, Thomas, you don't know that." Newt sighed. "The only thing that we do know is that they helped rescue us from WICKED. They gave us new clothes. They gave us food. They gave us a proper bed. Some of us haven't had that in a long time. Some of us a lot longer than others. And besides, they said they were just running a few tests on Y/N."
Just then the vent went flying out from under one of the bunks. "Hey, Thomas." Aris greeted as he peaked his head out from under the bed.
"What the. . ." Frypan muttered.
"Did you get it?" Aris asked.
"Yeah, let's go." I said showing him the badge. As he ducked back into the air vent, I turned back towards my friends.
"All right, look, maybe you guys are right. Maybe I'm just being paranoid," I said as I started to climb under the bed. "But I got to find out for sure. Just cover for me. I'll be back as soon as I can."

We were right.
Aris and I quickly slid back through the air vents, trying to get back as soon as possible. When we did, I pushed the cover making it slide across the room.
"Thomas!" I heard Frypan yell. I crawled out from under the bed to see everyone looking at me, waiting for me to explain.
There wasn't any time to explain.
"We gotta go," I said quickly. "We gotta go right now."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Minho asked as I ran to the door.
"What do you mean we gotta go?" Newt asked.
"They're coming. Come on. We gotta go." I said throwing aside a mattress and grabbing the sheet. "They're coming for us."
"Paige, she's still alive," I mumbled as I tied the sheet around the door handle.
"What happened in there?" Someone asked.
"Aris, what happened?" Frypan asked.
"Thomas, can you just calm down and talk to us?" Newt asked, my back still to him.
"She's still alive." I said tying the knot.
"Who's she? Y/N?" Asked Frypan.
"Ava," I said quickly.
"Ava?" Newt repeated. "Will you just turn around and talk to us?"
"It's WICKED!" I yelled, finally turning around. "It's still WICKED. It's always been WICKED."
I walked back across the room, with everyone watching me. I grabbed a mattress and pressed it against the door.
"Thomas." Newt said calmly as he put his hand on the mattress. I slowly turned towards him, struggling to calm my breathing. "What did you see?"
Before I could answer, we heard footsteps walking towards us. "I'll explain later. We gotta go. Now."
They nodded as we snuck out the air vent. When we got to the end, I pushed the grate open, looking around before stepping out.
"Let's go," I said once everyone was out of the vent.
"You guys go ahead. There's something I gotta do," Aris said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked him.
"Trust me, it's important. You guys wanna get outta here, right? Just go."
I opened my mouth to object, but Winston cut me off. "I'll go with him. Find Y/N. We'll meet you."
"Okay, Winston. Go!" I said as they went back into the vent and I started walking the other way.
"You sure we can trust this kid?" Minho asked as we started to pick up our pace.
"You don't want to know where we'd be without him," I said as we rounded a corner.
We gasped when we ran into a woman. "What are you kids doing out?" She sighed.
Just then an alarm went off. We looked at each other as she looked at us. She tried to run away but we quickly grabbed her.
"Where's Y/N?" I asked harshly.
"Who?"
"Y/N!" I yelled. "You guys have been running tests on her all day. Where the hell is she?"
"She's. . . She's in the Med Wing," she stuttered.
"Take us to her," Newt said calmly.
"Now," Minho added. She quickly nodded her head as we started following her down the hallway, the whole time with my hand holding her arm.
We ran down the hallway and turned the corner, but stopped when we saw a man running towards us. "Freeze!" He yelled. "Stay where you are!"
We turned back around when he started shooting his gun at us. "Why are they shooting at us?" Frypan asked. We got to the end of the hallway but stopped when we noticed Minho hadn't followed us.
"Minho, what the hell are you doing?" I yelled as he ran back the way we came. Just as the man rounded the corner, Minho jumped up, kneeing him into the wall. We ran over and saw the man lying dead on the ground.
"Shit, Minho." Newt said looking between our friend and the dead guard on the floor. I reached down and grabbed the guy's gun.
"Come on," I said grabbing the lady. "Let's go."
She led us down another hallway before stopping in front of the door. She looked behind at us and I nodded causing her to open it.
"Dr. Crawford, are you here to. . ." A man started to say as I pushed the doctor into the room. I raised the gun and pointed it at the men in the room.
"Where is she?" I asked. I looked around and waited for them to answer. I got angry when they just looked around the room at each other.
"WHERE IS SHE?!" I yelled.
I looked over to see a curtain sectioning off a part of the room. I handed my gun to Minho and drew back the curtain. My breath got caught in my throat when I saw Y/N lying on a bed, asleep.
I instantly walked over to her and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "Y/N," I whispered. As she woke up, her eyes narrowed when she saw me.
"What did they do to you?" I said breathlessly.
"Thomas?"
"You'll never get away with this," we heard Dr. Crawford say.
"What's going on?" Y/N asked as she started to sit up.
"We gotta leave right now. Come on," I said as I helped her take off the oxygen tubes.
"Guys! They're coming. Where do we go?" Frypan asked as I helped her out of the bed.
Newt looked around before saying, "Frypan move." He knocked over a table and pushed it against the wall.
We jumped back as the guards tried to get in. We all let out matching sighs when the table Newt knocked down was now wedged between another table and the door, making it so they couldn't get in.
"They've got the door barricaded. Send backup!" We heard someone yell from outside.
"We gotta get out of here!" Minho yelled as we backed away from the door.
"Where do we go?" Frypan asked.
I looked around the room and stopped when I noticed the window behind us. "Everyone stand back," I said as I grabbed a chair. I didn't hesitate to throw it against the window.
"Come on!" I yelled when it didn't break. "Newt, help me."
"Ready?" He asked with a chair in his hands. I nodded as we both threw our chairs against the window, shattering it.
"Come on. Come on." I said as I jumped through the window. Frypan put a blanket on the glass and began to help Y/N up.
"Come on, Y/N. I got you," I said as I helped her over the glass.
Once everyone was over except Minho, he finally turned away from the door. "Thomas," he said as he tossed me the gun.
"Stay behind me," I said mostly to Y/N. I opened the door but froze when I saw a guy standing on the other side. The second he took a step towards us, I pulled the trigger. I jumped as a bolt of electricity was shot at the man and he fell to the floor.
"Shit," I mumbled. I looked behind me at everyone looking just as confused as I felt.
"Let's go," I said grabbing Y/N's hand running down the hallway.
