yukihiro took deep breathe while staring at his cell phone screen. He's having mixed up feelings after reading online news. He's regretting for have read the news over curiosity. He shouldn't have read it from the start.
"What's wrong?" asked ken, sitting at the other side of the sofa. He's tuning his guitar. His long hair looked a bit rag under the hat he's been wearing even though he's inside the studio. yukihiro had a guess that ken didn't took a shower when he left his house to the studio. It would be a miracle if ken did take shower though.
At the other part of the studio, tetsuya was sitting at his seat, seriously watching scenes on the TV screen. The scenes were videos from their latest live concert. It was a huge and a blast concert. Everyone did have lots of fun.
"Is it about a girl?" ken grinned. yukihiro sniffed, shaking his head.
"No,"
"Then, are you bored?" ken asked again. yukihiro sniffed again. If he really feels bored, he couldn't say it. They were in the middle of work. ken should have also known that.
"The battery just run out," yukihiro lifted his blank cell phone.
"Hoh... Just buy new one," suggested ken.
"Do you want to borrow my charger?" offered tetsuya in the sudden. yukihiro didn't noticed when has tetsuya turned his sight to him.
"No, thanks, It's in my bag," yukihiro stood to get his bag, leaning at the wall beside the door to the studio. yukihiro could feel tetsuya's eyes sharply following his move. yukihiro took his bag and dig it to look for his cell phone charger.
"yuki, did you lose weight again?" asked tetsuya. "You seemed skinnier than the last time, do you eat properly?"
"Yeah," yukihiro answered shortly, without turn himself to tetsuya. His hand was still busy digging his bag for the charger. yukihiro was lying, about his cell phone battery and that he has been eating properly. He is sure tetsuya would also know the lies. A notification ringtone sounds. It came from ken.
"Do you guys have time after work?" asked ken still looking at his cell phone screen, reading a message coming in.
"Why?" asked tetsuya.
"hyde asked us for a dinner together, can we make it?" ken stared at tetsuya and yukihiro. For the day, tetsuya has given hyde a special permission to take a day off. yukihiro thought it's strange since usually tetsuya demanded everyone to set their schedules only for the band whenever they have works to do. tetsuya looks at some papers in front of him, turning some pages before finally speak out.
"I guess we can make it,"
"Great! I'll tell hyde we will be coming," ken happily type a message on his cell phone. yukihiro swiftly took a sight at tetsuya, who has getting back watching at the TV screen. As no one noticed, yukihiro put down his bag and sit at the nearest chair. He doesn't need to pretend looking for his charger any more. yukihiro felt strange again, after tetsuya suddenly gave permission for not coming to hyde, now he agreed to go dinner after work. Usually tetsuya won't allow anyone leaving, at least not after they got 80% job done.
yukihiro leaned to the back, while looking at his cell phone. He opened the last tab he has read a while ago, about a Halloween live concert held annually by a band he has known. There were pictures on the live concert article; one was showing the main vocalist sticking his tongue out, while making peace sign with his right hand fingers, looking sexy, naughty, also tempting. It was hyde.
Lately hyde has been busy, resulting he can't attend some works at the studio. tetsuya didn't mind it as long as hyde could perfectly finished his parts. He has done it so far. Since hyde was quite busy, yukihiro doesn't want to bothered him, even with just a greeting email. To be honest, yukihiro was dying to send messages to hyde, saying how he missed that tiny vocalist, his warm, kind, and gentle natural attitude, his voice, when he's talking and laughing, his enchanting smile...
yukihiro slightly smile to himself, silently saying thank you to tetsuya for accepting hyde's invitation. Finally, he could meet hyde.
It was almost 12 PM when the three arrived at the restaurant. As being predicted, tetsuya demanded the works to be finish before they could leave for dinner. As a perfectionist with his works, tetsuya demanded the same thing with everyone. Earlier ken said that they can come at any time since hyde will wait at the restaurant. But it was really late, yukihiro wonders does hyde still waiting for them?
The restaurant was a sushi restaurant. It's a quiet place, clean, with dim lights. As expected, no one was there. Who would be at a sushi restaurant in the middle of the night?
"This is good, we could have the place just for ourselves." said ken cheerfully. Tetsuya doesn't give any response, while yukihiro thought it isn't to cheer about. The three look around; a lady wearing dark red kimono approached them. The lady kindly greets them and generously escorted the three to a table at the corner. yukihiro feels weird, since the lady seemed has been waiting for them. She even doesn't ask any question.
The restaurant isn't too big, yet also not too cramped. The inside interior was quite neat. The theme is nature. There's a fish pond at the center of the restaurant, adding the quiet atmosphere with the sound of the flowing water. Green and brown color dominates the color on tables, seats, walls, and the cutlery the customers would use. Some tables were designed for four seats, but there were also tables for larger amount of people.
yukihiro looks around, looking for someone he doubted would still be there waiting for them. tetsuya quietly watched yukihiro's doing. Softly he kicked ken's feet who sits beside him, giving him a sign. ken does understand the sign. He opened up his cell phone and presses a button.
"It's show time!!" shouted him happily. Yukihiro was still stunned with the shout when all of the sudden the lights turned off. It becomes pitch black inside the restaurant. The only sound yukihiro could hear was the sound from the flowing water at the pond. Yukihiro was still figuring out what has happened. He thought perhaps the electricity went down, or maybe it's the way to drive away the three from the closing restaurant. Then a bit of light shows up from the darkness, one by one the light from the candles were lighten up. There were five candles approaching, following with a humming from a voice that yukihiro recognize.
"Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday dear yukihiro~ Happy birthday to you~~~" ken and tetsuya also gives their voices to the singing lead by hyde. yukihiro stunned with mouth opened as he sees the beautiful face coming out from the dark, shining by the light from the candles.
"Did I scare you?" asked hyde giggling. The light on the restaurant went back on. hyde was carrying a pile of sushi, designed as a birthday cake with five small candles on top of it. He puts the sushi on the table. yukihiro was still amazed that he couldn't say, either give any respond.
"We seem surprise him," tetsuya laughed.
"Hey, you haven't blow out the candle. Hurry blow it before it gets to the sushi." told ken.
"Hurry yuki!" urged hyde. As being order, yukihiro quickly pulled himself toward the pile of sushi and quickly blow out the candles. The other three clapped their hands happily as yukihiro successfully blow all the candles with single breath. Yukihiro stared at hyde cheerful face. Silently yukihiro thinks hyde is looking more beautiful when he smiles.
"Did you guys made up this plan together?" asked yukihiro.
"Yeah, we split our duties." said ken. "Our job is to distract your attention from the thinking of it's your birthday, while hyde will booking the restaurant for your birthday party."
"But actually we don't have to do so, since it seemed yuki's attention already being distract for the whole day," said tetsuya. hyde who sitting beside yukihiro turned at him.
"What's wrong? Are you alright?" asked hyde sincerely sound worried.
"It must be girl, I can feel it," said ken being smart ass.
"Nothing is wrong, and it's not about girl." persisted yukihiro staring back at ken. It's really not a girl, since the one that made yukihiro distracted was in front of him now, and hyde is not a girl.
"yuki seemed have lost weight again," told tetsuya taking his drink. Not long after the surprise party, the lady brings out many sushi dishes and cold beer for them to enjoy. hyde turned to yukihiro again. yukihiro stared at tetsuya, upset with his doing telling things that made hyde become worried. yukihiro doesn't want to make hyde worried, he doesn't want to make that beautiful face looking trouble.
"Have you eaten properly?" asked hyde. Before yukihiro could answer him, hyde already took a plate and fill it with lots of sushi dish then he gave it to yukihiro. "Eat." told him. yukihiro was still freeze when hyde took one dish and take it to yukihiro's mouth.
"If you won't eat, I will make you," firmed hyde. ken and tetsuya both laughed watching the scene. They already start eating their food.
"yuki only want to eat if hyde feeds him." ken giggled. Eventually yukihiro did open his mouth and accepted the food given by hyde.
"What would you be if I'm not around?" asked hyde sighing. hyde took another dish to give yukihiro.
"I will die," said yukihiro swiftly. He was being careful so his words couldn't be heard by ken and tetsuya. The two didn't give any reactions, since they already busy talking about works.
"Don't say that," hyde whispered back. His face looks terrified and sad in the same time. yukihiro quickly regret his words, making beautiful face in front of him to be looking terrified.
"I'm sorry," said yukihiro. hyde becomes still.
"Don't ever say those words again," he feeds yukihiro another dish. His face looks grumpy, but also funny with his two chubby cheeks. yukihiro giggled.
"Hey, you aren't supposed to laugh!" hyde protested since he was seriously talking. ken and tetsuya turned their attention to the two, wondering what made yukihiro to be laughing.
"yuki, what did you wish for before blowing the candle?" asked ken. "You did make a wish, right?"
"I'm not a kid anymore," said yukihiro. "I don't do birthday wish."
"It won't do any harm if you made one." told tetsuya. "Who know your wish could become true."
"Even if did make one, I won't tell you." said yukihiro. "It won't become true if I told it,"
hyde instantly laughed. "You said you aren't kids anymore, but you surely know the rule."
"He's once a kid too." said tetsuya.
yukihiro slightly smiles, looking at his friends laughing with happy faces, looking at hyde's face becomes shining with happiness. yukihiro took a sip of his cold beer.
"I already have my wish become true, for hyde tobe smiling happily at my side."
