Next Morning
3rd Person POV
Erica drousily walked to her balcony of her bedroom to see the aftermath of the storm. A community pool was completely dirty and had debree all around it. "Come on man! On 3!" some guys shouted lifting up the life guard chair that had fallen over and the girls spotted Terrence helping them. Erica gasped. "Heaven, Terrences out! Come on come on come on!" she half whispered to her. "He's so beautiful.." said Erica to her. "Come on!" she shouted grabbing heavens harm as they headed downstairs. "I'll catch you guys later!" said Terrence as his friends ran off. (Keep in mind that Terrence is 18 and the girls that like him are like 13). Terrence shook his head that the weird situation of him being saved last night. And some weird creature jumping into water. Heaven and Erica went to one of the small community pool and looked at the mess. "Wow..what a wreck." said Erica as they walked up to it. People were there trying to clean up around it. "It's Terrence! Get down! Don't look.." said Erica as they stopped down next to the pool and grabbed a stick and pretending to do something else. "Hello freaky blue baby crab.." said heaven messing with it in the sand with the stick. Terrence walked up to the pool and sighed as he stretched his arms. "Hey. Hope you're ready to clean." said ericas grandpa handing him a broom. "Wow." he said letting out a breath and looking at the mess. "Think you'll have to call off 'The Last Splash'?" asked Terrence to Mr. B. "No! No Mr. B! No!" shouted heaven and Erica popping their heads up. "No Mr. B you can't do that! Me and Erica have been planning this for like ever!" said heaven to him as Erica noticed something strange in the pool going on. She saw something glowing. "Grandpa...are the pool lights still on?" asked Erica confused. Next thing you know, she slips and falls into the water screaming. "Erica!" shouted Terrence alarmed and taking off his shirt...
Underwater Erica was struggling to breathe and the opened her eyes. Apart from the kept and seaweed down there, she saw something moving...something swimming with black hair. She heard it humming eerily. Erica screamed at the top of her lungs and water and that's when she saw Terrence come down and save her. He brought her to the surface. "Hold on, you're ok.." he said with her in his arms as Erica kept freaking out from what she saw. "There's a shark in the pool!" shouted Erica freaking out. "Shh relax I got you you're ok..somebody get her a chair!" he shouted and they brought her one. "You're fine. She may be in shock." he said sitting her down. "Erica are you alright?" asked her grandpa. "She gets scared underwater..her parents drowned.." said heaven worried to Terrence and he nodded but also gave her a look as if he was wondering why she was talking to him. "You alright baby?" asked her grandpa. "I saw something. It's in there and I don't know what it was!" Erica shouted as she coughed. Terrence slightly started to think if it was what he saw last night. "Half of the ocean washed up in there last night...heaven take Erica inside..Leonard lock up the patio..I don't want anyone else falling in.." said her grandpa as heaven helped Erica inside. "Ok. Clean it. Lock it. Got it." said Leonard. "That was...that was cool Terrence.." said heaven smiling at him. He showed an awkward smile back and walked off. "Yeah...thanks Terrence." said Erica coughing. Then heaven pulled Erica under the stairs. "Oh my got Terrence actually jumped in there to save you! With his actual biceps!" shouted heaven happily. "Did you feel them around you? We're they flexed? Oh god, they must've been flexed.." said heaven smiling. "If you would've stopped breathing you would've been like..this close to mouth-to-mouth!" shouted heaven grabbing her shoulders. "There's something in there. I'm serious! It looked like...ugh I can't even say it. But i swear, it just stared at me with it's eyes!" shouted Erica nervously. "You're in shock...from touching terrence!" shouted heaven happily. "Heaven, I know what I saw in there." said Erica seriously. "Fine...then we'll just go back in there when no one's looking and we'll check it out.." said heaven. "No way heaven. I didn't mean to get in the water in the first place and I'm not going back there again!" she said back. "Something bad could've happened.." she said. "Come on scardy cat. Put your big girl pants on and meet me at 9:00." said heaven..
Later That Night
The girls tossed their dufflebag over the gate as they climbed over the fence. "Be careful! Grandpa would be so mad at us.." whisper shouted Erica. They went under the police tape and saw a light turn on. "It's Leonard get down!" they shouted dropping to the ground. He looked around closely and then after awhile closed the door back up. "Come on!" whispered heaven as they walked along the small side to the pool. They keeled down beside it and opened up the duffle bag. They looked in the water and saw nothing. They froze in their tracks once they saw a light swinging but remembered that it usually does that. Heaven got out a jar of sardines and opened it. "Hey maybe we should get fishing poles or something.." Erica suggested. "Shh, shh, no. I don't wanna catch it..I wanna feed it." said heaven dropping the sardine into the pool. The sardine floated about and then heaven got something else out of the bag. "Fish sticks?" asked Erica rolling her eyes. "Maybe it was an octopus.." said heaven shrugging. "With black, purple and blue hair?...and a tail?" asked Erica. Heaven dropped the fish stick into the pool. "It probably could've been some blue seaweed...or kelp." said heaven getting out some gummy worms. "It wasn't an octopus and it wasn't kelp!" whisper shouted Erica. "Want some?" asked heaven offering her some gummy worms. "I know what I saw! I saw hair!" whisper shouted Erica smacking the bag of gummy worms. "Geez ok!" said heaven rolling her eyes as she sat them on the side of the pool, not knowing that some fell in. "Look if you're gonna ignore every word I say I can hang out alone.." said Erica. "I'm not ignoring you." said heaven. They both talked over each other at the same time quietly arguing. "I bet I know what it was." they heard a voice say and they both gasped and stopped, glaring across the pool to see the most incredible thing: a woman with a tail sitting in the pool. They watched her bug eyed as she ate a gummy worm. "I'm guessing...it was a mermaid.." she said smiling and lifting up a blue tail.
Heaven was in so much of shock a gummy worm fell out of her mouth. The creature stooped down into the water and started to steer towards them. "Mm...mm.." she giggled in the water as she hummed.
She then disappeared under water and her tail splashed them slightly. They panicked and looked around the pool frantically for her. She then popped up in front of them scaring them.
"Boo." she said and they both screamed and covered their mouths. "I-it's a...Y-you're a..." they tried to say and she groaned. "I see I have to take this slowly with you guys. Mer-maid. Mermaid.." she said to them as if they were babies. They were still in shock. "Fabled marine creature...half woman, half fish, best known for sitting on rocks, staring into mirrors and obsessively combing our long beautiful hair blah blah blah.." she said gurgling the last part as she rolled her eyes before going back under water. "What's going on.." asked Erica and the mermaid popped back up and put her hand on the top of the pool. Her fingernails turned red. "Stop shrieking like a couple of gulls. For some shrimps you two are so loud!" she said irritated and smacking her tail down on the surface of the water as the tip of it turned red like her fingernails. "You speak English?" they asked her. "Yeah...mermaids speak every language known to man, fish, crustaceans...and several varieties of sea fouls.." she said giggling. "What can you speak?" she asked the girls. "I..got...a..C in Spanish.." said heaven. "Hmm.." said the mermaid. Heaven was about to stoop down next to her but Erica grabbed her arm. "Wait. What if she's like bad or something?" asked Erica. "Why would she be bad?" asked heaven. "She's a fictional sea creature. They can be bad." said Erica. "We are NOT fictional!" said the mermaid angrily. "We're discreet. Hm." the mermaid said. Heaven and Erica cautiously stopped down next to her. "Wow...I've never been this close to a human before..." she said looking at them. "Yeah...must be weird for you.." said heaven letting out an awkward chuckle. Heaven kept staring at her tail. "What?" she asked. "N-nothing.." said heaven. "You keep staring at my tail.." she said. "Well yeah...I kind of was..sorry." she said shrugging. "Do you...want to touch it?" she asked her rising it up. "Ok.." said heaven and Erica gave her a look. She touched it and jumped back in disgust. "Ugh it's slimy!" she said grossed out. "Well thanks. I rub it with kelp and jellyfish twice a day. Hm." she said grinning and swimming to the middle of the pool. She dove underwater and came up and did a flip.
"Woah.." said the girls in shock. Out of nowhere ericas foot was grabbed and she falls and screams. "Please don't eat us!" begged Erica in fear. "Ugh the thought!" said the mermaid disgusted as she took off ericas shoe. "I just wanna see what feet feel like." she said rubbing her foot and trying to hold it still. "Give me my foot!" shouted Erica. "Can you pick things up with them?" asked the mermaid. "No but I can sure kick with them if you don't let go!" she shouted breaking her foot out of her grip and the mermaid jumped in shock. "Chill dang.." said heaven. The mermaid turned around and saw a gummy worm floating away. "Hey get back here." she said waving her arm and on command a small wave carried the yummy worm over to her. She picked it up and ate it smiling. "Mm..these are good.." she said grinning. "H-how did you do that?" asked Erica. "Oh that was nothing. You should see my dad. He can make some serious waves. Like last night for example." she said munching. "Your dad made those waves?" asked heaven. "Yeah. He's mad at me because I swam away from home 3 days before I'm supposed to get married to the merman who's about as deep as a tidal pool if you know what I mean." she said rolling her eyes. "Hey!" they heard a voice shout and Erica and heaven gasped. "It's Leonard we have to go!" they said getting up. "He's a total psycho, we have to hide." said heaven. "Wait! Where are you going?" asked the mermaid saddened and grabbing the girls hand. "We'll be back tomorrow morning." said heaven. "Promise?" the mermaid asked. "Promise!" said heaven awkwardly. "Somebody's over there?!" they heard Leonard shout. "We gotta go! Don't get seen!" whispered Erica as they ran off before they were caught. The mermaid went underwater as Leonard came and examined the area with his flashlight. When he wasn't looking the mermaid came up and grabbed the bag of gummy worms that the girls left...
