I'm so sorry if this is sad.
___ was sitting with Touka. Yomo had asked her not to inform Touka about the raid. It's not like it mattered. She would find out at some point but it was better if she didn't know when it was in process. Touka sighed and looked over at ___. "So, where is Kaneki exactly?" She asked the girl.
She could feel that something was wrong from the way ___ looked. The poor girl looked as if she would break down any minute. "He had something important to take care of."
Touka eyed the packet next the ___. She quickly snatched it before the girl could stop her and started to look through it. "Now I get why you wouldn't let me see! How could Bakaneki leave you all alone at a time like this? Wait till he gets back."
"Touka! Give it back!" ___ tried to get the packet back but Touka was faster and stronger so she failed. "Use my bathroom. Go." Touka said, tossing the packet back. The [H/C] girl huffed as she blushed. She agreed nonetheless and walked to the bathroom.
Once inside she took out the tests. She ripped the packaging open and tried every one of them. She waited for the answer and once she got it, she smiled sadly. Not because her hopes were crushed but because Kaneki wasn't here.
She walked out after disposing off the tests. When she came into the living room she saw Touka angrily stare at the television. Curious, ___ went to see what was on. It was news about the raid. "___, I'm going there." She told her and went to leave but Yomo was standing there.
Touka angrily went past him to leave but before she could, ___ told her she would go too. Kaneki and the employees that remained at Antieku, She thought. Touka and ___ ran as fast as their legs could take them. Touka was faster of course.
It took them a while to get to the 20th ward. When they did, the place looked like a ghost town. They could hear helicopters a bit away.
"Touka.. What if something happened to them?" ___ asked her. Touka turn back and grabbed her shoulders. She shook her as she said, "Don't think that! They would make it!"
The girl nodded at the female ghoul and continued to run towards the cafe.
They could hear it, the fighting. They were close. Kaneki. ___ hoped with all her soul that he would be okay. Of course she care about the others as well but remembering Tina's words, she willed herself to get there on time.
Tell me, would you be hurt if something bad happened to him? For example, if he died, would you be hurt?
Would you want to hurt yourself if he died? Would you want to die?
She ran as fast as she could. Touka stopped to catch her breath as did ___ since she had more trouble running. She put a hand on her stomach, worriedly. Touka looked back at her and shook her head. "You'll be okay, don't worry."
The went through alleyways to stay out of sight. Touka suddenly halted in her steps. ___ stopped behind her and saw what she stopped for. "Send the 4th devision after eyepatch." Said a CCG officer. No.. Kaneki! "Kaneki.." Touka whispered.
Touka turned around and gave the girl a sad look. Why is she looking at me like that? He isn't dead! He's strong, he can defeat the CCG. ___ shook her head. "He's strong, Touka."
They both proceeded to go through the alleyways. Touka stopped again when she heard CCG cheering. Touka leaned against the wall. Her knees felt weak when she found out what the cheering was about. "Touka! You have to stay strong for them!" ___ told her. She tucked her ___ hair behind her ears.
Touka nodded and stood up. "I want- I need to get to Antieku." The ghoul said. ___ nodded. "Let's move before they find us here."
They took another way to the cafe as the one they were using before was filled with CCG. Touka ran too fast and tripped in the snow. "Touka!" The girl yelled at the ghoul. "Are you okay?" She said as she held her own knees, breathing heavily. Touka ignored everything and just got up, running again.
"I can't run as fast as you!" ___ breathed out as she ran behind Touka. They we both so exhausted when they reached the street where Antieku was.
The sight in front of them was horrid. No.. This isn't real! Tears streamed down ___'s face as she watched Antieku get absorbed in flames. This was it. The manager.. The other employees.. All gone.
The girl hated the fact that she had met these people so late. Whenever she was at the cafe, she felt calm and stress free. How could they do this?
"Touka.." She whispered. Touka turned around and hugged ___ tightly. "Why?" Said the ghoul. ___'s heart was in pain at everything that happened. They didn't deserve this. They deserved to be accepted, not killed without a second thought!
They both turned to look at the cafe when they heard footsteps.
Kaneki..
He was carrying someone covered with a white sheet. He looked so broken.
What had happened?
___ couldn't moved, she didn't know if she should. Where was he going?
Kaneki started to walk away. When the two girls ran after him, part of the building came down and Touka grabbed ___, protecting her. She was about to scream because Touka almost got hit but something saved her.
There were shards of unknown material on the part of the building.
___'s leg was hurt but she didn't care. She worried over her friend. She went over to Touka and helped her up.
Touka thanked her then started to check ___ when she remembered her condition. "You're okay? Kaneki would be heartbroken if something happened to you." The ghoul said. Kaneki..
___ grabbed Touka's arm and started to pulled her in the direction where Kaneki went. "___, you're not walking right! Slow down."
"Touka, we have to get to him! I don't want to lose him!"
The ghoul nodded and helped her friend walk after her lover. She admired the relationship between Kaneki and ___. They were perfect together. She never thought she would want a relationship until she saw the both of them. Maybe some day, Touka thought.
They stopped on a snowy road. Kaneki was turning a corner. He couldn't help but remember his conversation with Hide. He chuckled slightly. Hide..
"Oi Kaneki! How come you didn't tell me about that girl you met?" Hide said with a grin and he handed the ghoul a cup of coffee.
Kaneki was still hiding his ghoul eye. He couldn't help but smile though.
"Do you love her?" Hide asked him. He was happy that his friend found someone to be happy with.
"Yeah." Kaneki said. Hide soon winced from the pain in his side. His wound was bleeding out. Kaneki moved swiftly and grabbed ahold of his friend.
"Maybe once we go home you can introduce me to her. Cant wa-wait t-to become an U-uncle." Hide said painfully as he couldn't talk much.
"Let's go home Kaneki."
The girls were about to go after him when Yomo appeared, blocking their way. No, not now! ___ glared at him.
They stood in silence for a bit before Yomo said, "This was their last request to me. Don't go after him." ___'s eyes started to get wet. How dare her try to stop them?
"What was the request?" The girl asked. Yomo held a blank face as he turned to Touka, "Touka, the manager wanted me to keep you away from all this. He wanted you to live a life." Then he turned to ___, "Kaneki had asked the manager, if something were to happen, you were to be kept away from it as well and you were to be protected." No.. He won't die!, ___'s mind screamed.
She pushed Yomo aside and ran after Kaneki. "___!" Touka yelled but the girl didn't listen. She just ran. She didn't care about the pain in her leg. All she wanted was to stop Kaneki from doing what he was about to. She couldn't lose him.
She noticed the CCG around her which made her quicken her steps. Kaneki was in her sight but before she could reach him an arm pulled her back. She turned around to swear at whoever it was but when she did she broke down crying. "You.. You won't take another person away from me!"
It was the same man who had killed her mother. "You can't go there. He's dangerous." The man said. She shook her head. "He's not dangerous! He's perfect! He's better than the most of you! Let me go to him.." She cried as she struggled to get out of the man's arms.
He wouldn't budge. She turned to look at her soul. Yes, to her, Kaneki was her soul. "K-Kaneki!" She screamed when she saw him get beaten by a CCG investigator. All she could do was helplessly watch as the love of her life fought for what he believed in.
You have to live.. You can't leave me.. Not like this!
"Let go!" She yelled at the man holding her. He shook his head. He believed that eyepatch was dangerous. He didn't care if he knew his daughter well or not, he wouldn't let her near that ghoul.
"___, listen to me! I'm your father. I didn't leave you! Your ghoul of a mother took you and ran away." He told her. He gritted his teeth at the memory. The girl froze. Her father? Was it really him?
She still didn't care. She continued to thrash against him. Kaneki.
"Let go! He's dying! Can't you see what they're doing to him? I love him! Please just please let me go to him.." She said, crying her heart out.
It was too late though.
The investigator hit Kaneki in the head and then he stopped moving.
___ screamed. She kept screaming as the pain in her heart kept increasing when she played the scene in her head over and over again.
Her father let her go and she ran towards Kaneki.
No, No, No, No!
He couldn't leave her like this. She cried as she ran towards him. When she reached him she immediately dropped down next to him.
"Kaneki.." She whispered, shaking him. He didn't move nor respond in any way. She froze. He was dead.
She couldn't cry anymore. No.. He was going to spend a life with her. How could he leave her? She tried to shake him again but, there was no response.
She leaned down to his face and whispered in his ear, "You can't leave us. Our child can't be without their dad." Her hand was on her stomach.
She wanted to die.
Would you want to hurt yourself if he died? Would you want to die?
The words replayed in her mind. She wanted to die.
No.. I couldn't. I have to live for our child.
She hated this world. It was cruel. The person she loved the most was taken away from her just like that.
A hand was placed on her shoulder. "___, He's gone." Her father spoke. He felt guilty. He felt like he had made a mistake. Could that ghoul love his daughter so much?
"He's gone." She whispered as she got up.
"I'm sorry."
