Jake was one of the best basketball players in their district, when he joined the team that was when the school started to get good and went against other districts. full credit can't go to Jake as the high school changed their coach to a more experienced and supportive basketball coach, and at last their MVP, Lee Jeno. During the start of the fall of their freshmen years, both boys were the first freshmen boys to sign up for the basketball team with firing passion and eagerness in the athletic game.
Lee Jeno was a different type of player, not only he was amazing at the game, but he was also a heart stealer. The fans in his opponent team's fans, specifically the girls, would fawn over the charming platinum-dyed hair boy. making his opponent's team's fans switch to his team to cheer over him, embarrassing them greatly
Jake was an amazing basketball player, always devoting himself to the game with endless training and revolving his life around the game. basketball was always in his mind, with this mindset, he always served well in games.
Surprisingly, the two boys had much in common but barely converse at all and invisibly distance themselves. They both had their reasons, Jake not liking how Jeno's attitude towards the girls their age by playing with their feelings, following up his friend group too. His friend group was known as playboys and rumored to bully other kids from different high schools in their district. The Lee didn't like Jake for another reason, that Jake had forgotten long ago, however Jeno didn't know that the Sim boy didn't even realize the reason Jeno had a hatred towards him.
The Lee boy always had a huge crush on Sim Eunji, Jake's twin sister. due to his reputation, Jeno had assumed the Sim boy warned his sister to never go by him. Eunji was completely his type and he admired them deeply the only obstacle he had was, Sim Jake. so as a part of the bet, he wanted to give a little sweet revenge to his teammate by stealing Tae Gaeul away from him and making her fall for him.

"Time out!" Coach Baek shouted out with a hand motion, his players quickly gathered around him forming a circle, as he informed them what tactics they should use next on their opponents
Gaeul looked up from her phone, as she was stalking the boy her best friend was going crazy over, Kim Sunwoo. On the way to the gym, she heard of a group of freshmen girls gossiping about how the soccer captain confessed his love to the Kato Suzumi's younger sister. Gaeul was stalking his account if he would post anything with the girl he confessed to, and confirm their relationship but nothing was seen.
"I thought you said you weren't interested in soccer boys?" Eunji said, raising one of her eyebrows, giving a playful but nasty look
"Yep, I just wanted to see if the girl he confessed to, liked him back," the Tae girl answered as she glanced away from her screen, her eyes connected with the Sim boy's. Pink rushed across her face at the sudden eye contact they had formed
"you turned in your science project in time right?" the Sim girl questioned
"yeah, I'm kinda scared about how Mr. Jeong will grade it honestly," Gaeul admitted, letting out a sigh
"Did he help at all?" her best friend asked as she motioned her head towards the notorious basketball player who was scoping the stadium filled with his classmates and kids from his opponent's school, some girls screaming and admiring him loudly
"nope, he just sat there being pretty," she answered in a monotone as she stared at the scoreboard, stating, "Home - 85 points, Guest - 52 points" Her school was in the lead as the other school was around 30 points behind, the first half of the game would be coming to an end
"Pretty? he got you too?" Eunji interacted with a serious and firm tone
"nothing like that, you guys take things too seriously whenever it's about him," she commented on the twins' behavior
"just making sure," Eunji said skeptical, and turned slowly to the game once again
"Eun what happens if he isn't as bad as everyone seems he is," the Tae girl speculated around the Lee boy
"if you say you got a crush on him, I will be burying you underneath the ground seventeen feet from where we are sitting now," Eunji said not leaving her eyes off the intense game
"I don't, I'm just curious," Gaeul said, thinking about the Lee boy a bit more than usual. she went back to her doodling, due to no answer from her best friend.
Jeno smirked to himself a bit as he shot the ball perfectly in the hoop. the crowd raged at the score ascending to the final minute on the clock. he confidently thought she was watching him, nope she was just doodling. his heartfelt annoyance that she was engrossed with her headphones and drawing. the Sim boy noticed Jeno's eyes on his girl, well his soon-to-be girlfriend, if he ever confesses

"You deserve this," Gaeul's mother exclaimed as she scissored more meat up for Jake, whose mouth was already stuffed enough.
"I'm so proud of you son," her dad confessed as he patted the basketball player's back, as his golden medal dangled around his sweaty, veiny neck. the Tae family was holding a huge outside BBQ party for the success of Jake's last basketball game and winning it.
"thank you," he said vaguely as his mouth was stuffed to its full capacity
"Tomorrow is the first day of the beach!" Gaeul exclaimed while she flipped more meat from the grill
"I genuinely can't wait to play in the water and sand all day long," Eunji said, looking up at the sky, reminiscing how tomorrow would play out
"and stuff our mouths with smores and fishcakes!" Jake added on as he placed grilled pork belly in his mouth
"Can I come with you guys?" asked Gaeul's little brother, Gunwook
"Don't you have fencing practice tomorrow?" Gaeul questioned as she placed down a plate of meat and sat down on the wooden bench by the stuffed-faced Sim family's boy
"Yeah so Sunday that's when I have no practice?" he asked
"Sure why not," Eunji answered as she fed her best friend forced with meat

"guys I think we shouldn't go to the beach tomorrow," Jake said the moment he entered the Tae girl's air-conditioned room. his twin sister sat up from her lying position on her best friend's bean bag and Gaeul looked away from the TV playing a romantic Netflix show
"why? tomorrow is the first day of our summer break," Gaeul commented as she paused the show. the Sim boy made his way to her bed and sat on the edge of it
"Jeno and his friend group are hogging the whole beach we go to, with a huge party," the basketball player said
"how come this party news gets spread around the school?" questioned his twin sister
"They are mostly inviting the other schools, the only people from our school going are the soccer team, and basketball team, including Jeno's gang," Jake confessed as his eyes wandered around her room
"so you were invited?" asked the Tae girl
"yeah, but I pretended I didn't hear him and walked away," Jake said laughing at himself
"I don't care if they are there, we should go anyway," Gaeul said
"yeah me too," Eunji agreed along with her other half
"Are you guys sure? I'm not going to be at the beach till six, and most likely the party would have started already, I don't want you guys to feel uncomfortable at the beach while the party is hosted right next to you guys," Jake said, being protective his sister and best childhood, as usual
"It's fine we'll bring along Sunghoon, Jungwon, Heesung, and Jay with us," Gaeul offered and reassured him
"Okay, then if that makes you guys comfortable sure," the Sim boy said agreeing with her offer
