matt was currently on his way to ri's air bnb to pick her up and to say he was nervous was an understatement. it was valentines day and him and ri hadnt planned anything so he didnt want to do anything too out of the blue to make her suspicious
matt and iris tended to go on drives basically every other day since iris had been in la, sometimes the others would join them but a lot of the time it was just matt and ri
matt drove the rest of the 10 minutes to iris' air bnb before texting her to tell her hes outside which is what they normally do when picking one another up
"hey" iris smiled calmly as she got in the car dressed in jeans and a oversized shirt deciding to still be comfy but put together
"hey do you wanna go on aux" matt replied looking over at her smiling as he started to reverse out and back onto the roads
"yeah sure" iris said as she grabbed the cable and plugged in her phone and clicked on spotify playing their playlist they created over facetime one of the first nights she was in la for the drives they have together
it was 15 minutes later when they found themselves driving past the pier, suddenly matt had an idea
"do u wanna get out and go to the pier?" he asked as he slowed down by the parking lot ready to drive in if she said yes
"yeah omg" iris said as she turned from looking out her window to him as he started to drive into the parking lot and reverse into a space
they made it out of the car and started walking to the
carnival games which were surrounded by food stalls
"oh im about to eat this up" iris said giggling as her and matt stood at the hook a duck carnival game
lets just say she did not lose... which ended up in her winning a small dog plush which she was more than happy about
eventually they moved on and were now stood behind the railings looking towards the beach and the sky which was painted with a sunset
matt was stood to the right of ri and the pair were sharing cotton candy out of a container that they had bought from one of the stalls at the pier
"ri" matt said suddenly knowing he just had to get it off his chest, much like he did whenever he had to tell ri something
"yeah" iris turned to him giving him her signature smile which made him look at her in pure adoration
"soo you know how ur basically my favourite person and i want to be with you every second ever, you literally have me listening to taylor swift songs everyday, calling me bro as if u dont like me as much as i like you and stealing literally every sweatshirt i own" matt said whilst smirking
"yeahhhhhh" iris dragged out her word as she smiled figuring she knew where this was gonna go
"theyre comfy sweatshirts what can i say" she adds shrugging whilst smiling and being shy looking at her feet before looking back up towards matt who was also staring at her smiling wondering how the hell his celebrity crush had now turned into the person he adores with everything in him
"let me just hurry up im annoying myself" matt said quickly wanting to get it over because he could feel his anxiety creeping up the longer he waited
"hey your good take your time" iris smiled comforting matt seeing his anxiety was getting higher
"do u want to be my girlfriend ri" matt asked finally smiling at ri whilst also praying deep down he hadnt read the situation wrong and she would say no
"of course i will" iris giggled immediately hugging him wrapping her arm around his neck as he wrapped his around her waist and also laughed out of relief
"ur so cute" iris giggled as they hugged thinking back to how he just blurted it out knowing he was nervous
they released from the hug making matt look at iris with the dopiest grin on his face happy that he finally asked her
"can i kiss you" he blurted out whilst looking at her
"yeahhhhhhh" iris said getting shy as he pulled her in to kiss her
she giggled into the kiss as matt also smiled both of them never wanting the moment to end due to how happy they were
they released and iris went back to hugging matt but with her arms around his chest and his around her shoulders as he laughed about how shy the girl was being which was different compared to her usual outgoing self
they ended their time at the pier by playing more of the game stalls that were set up, choosing to skip the ferris wheel due to matts fear of heights and iris wasnt too bothered about it either
they were now back in the car and they had spent the last 20 minutes just talking. it had now became dark and they were planning on stopping somewhere to eat before going back to matts house as the girls had texted the groupchat earlier saying they had had got an uber over to the triplets because they were bored so the two of them planned to join them
before they knew it they had stopped at mcdonalds, eaten and were walking through the front door of the triplets place
"well u took long enough damn" chris said as he heard the front door shut behind them as iris sat on the step to take her shoes off with matt waiting for her in no rush to get into the main living area anyways
"sorry that we were having fun sue us" iris said laughing as she sat down on the sofa next to clem who was on her phone playing cooking fever
"omg can i play a round, my phone is dead" iris said to clem when she saw she was playing her favourite game
"sure here you go" clem said passing her phone to iris not minding due to the fact she had been playing for a while now and laying her head on ri's shoulder as she watched her play
"does anyone want a drink" matt called from the kitchen where he had walked over to get a rootbeer out of the fridge as everyone else sat in the living room watch tv or speaking like normal
"can i have a dr pepper please" iris said looking up from the phone towards matt who smiled and said yeah grabbing her a can out of the fridge and walking back into the living room to give ri her drink and sit down
they spent 20 minutes just talking and hanging out with everyone, never a moment of awkwardness in the group
"hey do u mind if i go put my phone on charge in ur room" iris said turning to matt who was sat next to her whilst he was watching lia and nick play mario kart
"no go ahead" matt replied "okay thanks" iris said kindly as she got up and walked to matts room to plug her phone in
as she was doing this there was a conversation going on in the living room which obviously ri couldnt hear due to her being in matts room
"did u ask her" nick immediately asked the second iris was out of the room, he wanted to ask earlier knowing his brothers plans but figured if he hadnt asked ri he wouldve ruined it so he kept quiet until now
"ask her what" clem said turning to matt confused as her and lia didnt know what was gonna happen
"i asked ri to be my girlfriend and she said yeah" matt said smiling but shrugging shyly
"WHAT THE FUCK" lia and clem both shouted making iris come out of matts bedroom confused
"what the hell are u screaming for" iris said as she walked back to the living room
"why are u all staring at me" she added realising everyone was looking at her
"so u have a boyfriend huh" clem said smirking at the girl
"yes" iris grinned and sat next to matt putting her arm around him jokingly
"ur so unserious" chris said laughing at the girl figuring she would get shy but instead was the opposite which he probably shouldve expected
"can we play mario kart i wanna win" iris asked the group who agreed and ended up playing mario kart for a few hours before the girls headed back to the apartment needing to desperately pack the last minute things they needed before they left for tour tomorrow
