"(Y/N), honey, are you sure you want to do this?" the voice of Tech entered my hearing as I swerved through the dense jungles of Endor. The two of us were on a speeder and it was a real chore to dodge those trees and not end up a pile of ash from the impact, "Hunter won't mind coming back to get us. I just have a bad feeling about all of this... Inquisitor business. How do you feel?"
I huffed and swallowed a mouthful of spit. This was becoming a bit annoying. Tech always worried far too much when it came to things like this, but I couldn't blame him. If he was going to be forced to fight a Sith Lord, I would be doing everything in my power to talk him out of it,
"Tech, I have no choice," I answered back while swerving to not hit a giant bolder, "These people killed my fellow Jedi. They killed men, women, and children. I can't let them continue to live in this galaxy because of their crimes. Please do not try and talk me out of this, because I have no choice."
Tech exhaled and rubbed the bridge of his nose in equal annoyance, "Of course you have a choice. You have a family with me and the others. How do you think Hunter, Echo, Wrecker and Omega would feel if you died doing something as unnecessary as this?"
That was enough.
I brought the speeder to a stop and span around to look at my boyfriend, "Let's compare this to how you and the others fought to keep Crosshair okay. You and the others went above and beyond to try and get Crosshair back and safe from the Empire, yet you failed. Do you give up? Hell no. I may have failed before with the Inquisitors, but it won't stop me from trying because I have a purpose now."
Tech cleared his throat and dipped his head in embarrassment, "I know you're right, (Y/N), but the situation with Crosshair is still different. There were no lightsaber wielders. This Inquisitor might take you away from me... and that will hurt worst than anything the Empire could do to Crosshair."
That was different. I definitely wasn't expecting that to come from my boyfriend's mouth, nor did I want to hear such a thing. I am not as important or more important than Crosshair. Tech and Crosshair are brothers— I am just a girl that happened to fall in love with a Clone, even though I sometimes associated them with the deaths of my family.
More important than Crosshair? Definitely not.
I turned to look at Tech, and I couldn't help but pull him into a tight hug. He made an 'omph' sound as I did, but he didn't try to free himself for a breath. He knew he had made an impact on me, yet he also knew it wouldn't change my mind.
I'm one of those people that once their mind is made up, nothing in the galaxy could change it. But, it made me feel better to have Tech by my side, as I would imagine he felt too,
"Come on, we need to hurry up before the Inquisitor is finished on Endor and decides to leave," I continued while pressed a soft kiss to Tech's lips. I then noticed my lips were wet due to tears trickling down. Damn it.
Tech laid his hand on mine and squeezed, "You seriously don't have to go through with this. Hunter and the others are close by. We can all run away and live somewhere the Empire won't dare look for us. We can be free."
"I want that more than everything," I replied while kissing Tech's lips once more, "But I... we can't have that until all of Darth Vader's apprentices have been put down."
Tech sighed in content and nodded, accepting my words, "Alright. Let's get this over with, then."
I revved the speeder's engine and kicked the gas. The speeder roared to life and picked up its pace down a mossy road. It was free of many obstacles, which showed that the Empire likely cleared this area to create an easy path for their speeders. We were going in the right direction.
After a while, we made it to a pretty tall building resembling a prison. It had windows climbing his into the sky with bars on them. I couldn't pinpoint what the purpose of this building was besides an actual prison. But why would the Empire keep a prison on a planet like Endor. It would prove to be a hectic place to navigate for escapees, but many Stormtroopers would perish from the bloodthirsty Ewoks.
It wasn't worth that in my opinion, but I had no say in what the Empire decided to do with their money, nor did I want to.
"Is this the place?" my boyfriend questioned with a hint of intimidation in his voice, "It's... huge!"
I nodded and turned the speeder off. He and I were hidden in a clump is bushes, so none of the guards could see us. Even with the noisy speeder, we wouldn't be suspected because Stormtroopers come and go on those things,
"This is indeed the place," I answered in confirmation, "I can sense him."
Him.
The Inquisitor. He was definitely here, and he could sense me too.
"What's the plan?" Tech whispered. None of the alarms had gone off yet, but I anticipated that was because the Inquisitor wanted to face me himself without any Stormtrooper interference.
I laid a hand on my boyfriend's shoulder and kissed his lips, "I'm gonna lead the Inquisitor out into the open. I will need you to cover me and take out as many Stormtroopers as you can before the Inquisitor begins the attack. The less men he has to back him, the better off we are."
Tech fought back the urge to argue and state his mind, but he knew better. I was settled on the plan, and although Tech was biased to my safety, he needed to act better. He needed to act like... like a Clone. He just needed to shut up and listen. I understood his pain better than anyone that wasn't a Clone like him. This was just as hard for me to take as it was for him.
After a moment, Tech nodded and grabbed his blasters, "I'll follow you to Hell and back if I have to."
Kissing him deeply, I prayed this wasn't the last time I would feel his lips on mine. Separating, I unsheathed my (F/C) lightsaber, and crashed into the clearing without another word.
Everyone that was guarding the prison stood silent in shock: no one expected a Jedi to show herself here of all places. But, they soon snapped out of it and began shooting.
I was thankful for my training provided by Master Sifo-Dyas at this very moment, because I was able to elegantly dodge and defend myself from the Stormtroopers. Thankfully, Tech jumped into action as well; covering my back himself better than a whole battalion could.
After a while, the trooper's numbers began to drop. I was beginning to wonder where the Inquisitor was. Were my senses fooling me? Was the Inquisitor already gone? Was I putting Tech at risk by simply hoping I could kill this Sith?
All of those questions were quickly answered when a tall, buff man burst from the front door of the prison,
"(Y/N) (L/N)!" the man screamed while igniting his lightsaber, "Last mistake you'll ever make! Fight me!"
It took me off guard how aggressive this man was. Anger and hatred was simply radiating from the man. I twirled my lightsaber and faced the Inquisitor, "Come get me, then!"
The Inquisitor shot out from the entrance of the building and attacked with untraceable speed. It was insane: one moment he was in front of me, and the next he wasn't. This was the most force sensitive individual I had met since Count Dooku all those years ago, and even the Count wouldn't have kept up with this Sith.
Tech knew better than to help me with this fight. Even the Stormtroopers that were originally trying to put me down had ceased. Everyone was watching this fight with peaking interest.
I bashed, blocked, and pushed with all my might. The powerful Inquisitor bashed, blocked, and pushed right back like I was nothing. I could sense Tech's unyielding fear over the situation, but he had to trust me. My Master trained me very well in the ways of the force, and although my boyfriend couldn't understand the power that this brought, he knew I was capable,
"This all you've got?" I taunted while parrying the attacks back into the Sith, "I would've thought Lord Vader would have trained you better. You fight like a child."
One thing that I have forgotten from the lack of years of fighting Sith, is that one should never taunt a Sith. Unlike the Jedi, the Sith weren't afraid of channelling their anger into power. This Inquisitor proved this point.
The man leapt into the air and did a perfect flip over my head. I wasn't fast enough to react as the Inquisitor landed like a feline behind me; nimble and agile as he was quick.
The air was knocked from my lungs as his heavy boot collided with my back. I grunted as I plummeted from my feet and down to the ground. Stars enveloped my vision as the Sith kicked me hard in the side so I would roll over onto my back. His ideal way of killing— seeing the life draining out of his victim's eyes,
"You talk real big for such a puny, weak Jedi," the Sith growled while twirling his lightsaber in his hand.
I could hear Tech's angry and defiant screams echoing through the clearing. I turned my head to look at my boyfriend. He was locked in a struggle between three Stormtroopers. None of them tried to gun down the Clone, which I was so appreciative of. I would rather die a painful and slow death than see Tech die,
"(Y/N)!" Tech shouted, his voice cracking in sadness and fear over what would happen next, "Please take me instead! I am also a war criminal! I have helped Jedi escape the Empire far more times than she has! Please spare her and take me instead!"
The Sith craned his head around to look at the meaningless Clone, "Your kind does not interest me. Lord Vader gave me a task, and that task is to eradicate the galaxy of this Jedi scum. You will be dealt with accordingly, but until then, watch your little Jedi die!"
"No!" Tech shouted while raking himself free of the Stormtroopers' hands, "No, (Y/N)!"
Life seemed to go by slower than ever before. The Sith moved like molasses as his lightsaber approached my chest. At the same time this was happening, Tech had managed to make his way across the clearing in an attempt to sacrifice himself!
I couldn't even think. The idea that my boyfriend would sacrifice his life just so I could live another day was so painful I couldn't bare it. I knew what his plan was: Tech was planning on jumping in front of me while the Inquisitor plunged his blade down; affectively blocking the shot from hitting me!
Without thinking, I extended my arms out. Using the force, I sent my boyfriend flying away from the Inquisitor's blade. If I was a second late, Tech would be dead instead of me.
I gasped as the red lightsaber engulfed itself into my gut. I gasped breathlessly as my eyes began to pool with pained tears. Yet, it felt right. Tech was okay— he still had a chance to escape.
As soon as the lightsaber had entered my gut, it was gone. The pain hadn't left, though. It was unexplainable; a never ending burning that seemed to stretch in all quadrants of my body.
"No..." Tech's voice rang out as his footsteps approached, "NO!"
He plummeted to my side and engulfed my face in his hands, "Hey, hey! Stay with me now, (Y/N)! You're okay, I promise! We will be able to help you! Just keep your eyes on me!"
The Sith watched in amusement, but made no moved to end Tech's life.
I clasped Tech's cheek in my bloodied hand and brought his face down to mine. I laid my forehead against his and slowly shut my eyes, "I was wrong. I'm not ready for an Inquisitor... I'm sorry I... I wasn't strong enough!" Cutting myself off, I opened my eyes and gazed into the handsome eyes of Tech, "Take care of... O-Omega for me, a-and tell the Bad Batch t-that I will... always be with them!"
Tech sighed and closed his eyes; tears streaming his cheeks, "I swear I will, honey. I promise you!"
That was enough. That single promise was enough. Closing my eyes, I pushed my lips forward and tasted Tech one more time before I fell into the void; becoming one with the force.
