Izuku POV:
A bright beam of sunlight shines into my nursery as I bounce in my crib. My teddy lies next to me as I wait for daddy to come get me. Sometimes Tenko comes to wake me up but I don't hear him this morning, so I call for dad.
"My boy, you sure are up early. It's only 7:00. Do you know what today is?" Daddy giggles as he walks into my room. I reach up for him to grab me.
"You know it's your birthday don't you?" He smiles in my face and carries me down the stairs. A birthday? What's that, I've never had one before.
"Set here I'll grab you some food." He nods and sets me in the high chair. I spot Grandpa Torino hanging things up over the window. It looks like a brightly colored banner.
Dad gently feeds me mashed peas while I watch Torino make balloons. I only ever saw a balloon once, they're meant to be used for parties. Is this a party? After a while I hear Tenko rush down the stairs. He has a bright smile on his face as he stomps into the kitchen.
"Happy birthday Izuku!" He laughs. Why do people keep saying birthday without telling me what it means?
"Good morning young Tenko! I'm going to make pancakes for breakfast, you take Izuku and go play while we finish getting things ready." Daddy passes me to Tenko.
"Mhm!" Tenko hums and takes me into the living room. He lays me on my play mat and he runs around in circles.
Tenko is very devoted to our game of tag. Every time we play he makes sure not to go easy on me. I crawl around the sofa and watch him duck behind the coffee table. I laugh as I catch him crawling like me.
"Come one Izu, catch up!" He giggles as he crawls away. I finally reach his leg and tug on his pants, causing us both to burst out with laughter.
A few moments later Daddy finished making pancakes and Tenko stopped playing to eat his breakfast. It only took a little bit for me to realize that everyone was here and they were acting strange. Uncle Mirai kept talking about his practical gift and Grandpa Torino hummed about a cake. I remember Kacchan having a birthday now, we had fun and he did get to eat cake and open presents. Maybe he'll get to do that again. But Kacchan isn't here, so maybe it's someone else's turn? I'm not sure.
"Masaru and Mitsuki will be over shortly. Let's get everything else ready." Daddy nods.
"Right, all that's left is getting dressed and cleaning the kitchen. Tenko, can you take Izuku upstairs and get yourself changed?" Uncle Mirai turns to Tenko.
"Yeah!" Tenko nods.
"Alright, Izuku's onesie should be in his drawer. I'll be up shortly to put it on him." Daddy smiles.
"Okay dad." Tenko lifts me as he takes me up the stairs.
Tenko lays me on the floor of his room and I watch him change into a nice new outfit. He wears a light purple button up and a formal pair of pants. He pulls his long hair back into a low ponytail. After that he put some lotion on and his special pair of gloves. The gloves only have 1 finger, that way it helps him not accidentally activate his quirk. He only wears it for very special occasions and long periods of time. A birthday must be very special.
"Okay Izuku, let's try on your birthday outfit! Tenko, you look very handsome." Daddy smiles as he enters Tenko's bedroom.
"Thanks! I'm going downstairs now." Tenko bounces down the stairs.
"Look, it's for you." Daddy says as he slips me into a light green onesie. Its buttons are shiny and the fabric is very soft. It has small flowers embroidered to the edge of the sleeves.
"Let's head down stairs, the Bakugou's will be over shortly." Daddy carries me down the stairs and puts me down in the living room again.
I watch people pass through the room carrying things and talking, after a while there's a ring at the door. I look up to the window and see my auntie Mitsuki and uncle Masaru. Uncle Masaru is cradling Kacchan!
"Mitsuki, Masaru, little Katsuki. It's wonderful that you could make it, please come in!" Daddy hugs them as uncle Masaru sets Kacchan down next to me. I watch the adults walk into the kitchen, leaving me and Kacchan alone.
"Kacchan!" I smile.
"Izuchan! What's going on, why's everyone here?" Kacchan reaches for a teething ring.
"I don't know, something about my birthday. Kacchan, what's a birthday?" I ask.
"A birthday is when people get together to celebrate you. I think." He sighs.
"What happens on a birthday?" I tilt my head back.
"That's the best part! You eat really sweet food and you get to open gifts. Remember on my birthday when I got that super soft All Might blanket? You'll probably get gifts like that." Kacchan grins.
"Really?!" I smile.
"Sometimes when you two babble it sounds like you're having conversations!" Tenko laughs as he skips into the living room and sits next to me.
"Come on, dad said it's time to celebrate!" Tenko says as he picks me up. Gran carries Kacchan.
The kitchen is decorated with bright ribbons, and banners. There's balloons on the edge of my high chair and they float well above my head. Daddy brings over a cupcake to my high chair but he sits it just out of reach. He gives everyone else a cupcake too. And then out of nowhere they started singing! They must have gone crazy, they never sing like this. Maybe it's a birthday thing?
Once they stopped singing Daddy moved my cupcake closer to me so I could reach it. I took my hands and took handfuls of the frosting and shoved it into my mouth. Kacchan was right about getting to eat sweet food! Grandpa Torino laughed at me as he wiped some of the frosting off my cheeks. Kacchan also had cupcake all over his face, but Mitsuki was a lot quicker to wipe him off.
"Alright, who's ready to open presents?" Daddy brings a box over and sits it on the table.
"This 1 is from your Auntie and Uncle!" Auntie Mitsuki smiles. Daddy lets me tear the corner while he opens the rest for me. Inside is some sort of bag. It's blue with patterns of flowers all over, it has a large pocket and a few smaller pockets.
"Masaru, Mitsuki, you shouldn't have!" Daddy squeals as he hugs them. Apparently it's an expensive baby bag, but I don't get it.
"Take this." Grandpa Torino nods as he hands me a smaller box. I shake it around and struggle to open it until Daddy helps. Inside is a soft yellow blanket that matches the cape that Gran wears sometimes. The blanket has tags and teething rings on the corner.
"That should help with the teeth you'll be getting soon." Torino nods.
"It's great!" Daddy smiles at Grandpa.
"This might be too big for you to open Izuku." Mirai laughs as he lays a large rectangular box next to my high chair. Daddy helps Mirai open it up, inside was some type of trash can. It's called a 'diaper decomposer' and it's supposed to get rid of dirty diapers. It's some sort of new tech that made daddy very happy.
"Here's my gift to you!" Daddy says as he sets me on the floor.
"What's this going to be?" Masaru ponders. Daddy returns with a box that has holes in it. He hands a string to me and tells me to pull it, so I do. When I tug on the string the box falls open and out comes a puppy!
"A puppy!" Tenko laughs.
"Oh dear lord." Uncle Mirai sighs.
"He's gone crazy." Gran shakes his head.
"Aww." Masaru coos.
The puppy licks all over my face before running around the kitchen. I crawl after her and we do circles around the kitchen island. Tenko joins in and it turns into a full on chase.
"I figured, with Tenko starting school soon, Izuku might need someone to keep him company." Daddy blushes as Gran glares at him.
"That thing better be trained." Gran growls.
"Oh she's all trained! Mostly... I mean she's potty trained and she knows how to sit. She's got all her shots!" Daddy waves his hands in front of his face.
"What's her name?" Uncle Masaru asks.
"Her name is Emiko, and she's very well behaved." Daddy says as she jumps into his lap and licks his face.
"Yeah, very well behaved." Mirai laughs.
"Emiko is pretty cute!" Tenko grins as he cuddles her.
"Well, it's about time we got something feminine around here." Mitsuki nods.
The rest of my night is spent playing with Kacchan and Emiko. She ran circles around us and Kacchan can't wait to come back to see her again. But like most good things, my birthday had to come to an end. The Bakugou's went back home and so did Uncle Masaru and Grandpa Torino, after they helped clean up. So it was just me, Tenko, Emiko, and daddy again. Tenko was in the bath when daddy came to me with a small gift.
"Izuku, there is just 1 more gift for you." He whispers as he hands me a little wrapped box.
"This is from... it's from your mother. She wanted you to have this, but she can't be here to give it to you." Daddy's eyes start to water.
"Open it carefully, okay?" He sits it in my lap and I start to rip the ribbon off. Inside the package was a photo. It was daddy and mommy, they're sitting on a beach. Mommy is holding her tummy and daddy has a big grin across his face.
"She would've loved you more than the sun, Izuku." Daddy cries as he holds me.
I think I love mommy too.
