Jewel's mind had been on the way she freaked out on Leo since she got back.
It was hallucination, and she took it out on him. She left immediately, not with the continued bugging she had from Ekanem, after making her leave too, because she had to drive her off.
She didn't say anything about it to Ekanem.
Nathan had messed her up. Here she thought she was getting better.
This was something that happened before, sometimes Leo looked so much like Nathan, and other times didn't.
But she couldn't help but freak out the time. She was terrified of Nathan, not after what happened. And Leo looked so much like him.
He was only going to continue reminding her of her rapist. And that horrible night, she wished to forget so badly.

Going online, on WhatsApp. The first thing she saw reminded her what the day was. She had honestly forgotten about it. Not with everything that had been happening.
It was just 5:AM in the morning, she had just woken up.
Their class group chat had been changed from HILTON SS3A to WORLD TRIPLET DAY.
She couldn't believe she had forgotten Jewel's birthday, which was also Jason and Jayden's birthday.
In a way, all three of them were important people in her life.
Jewel was her best friend, even though things between them had changed. Jason, the friend she wanted something more with and who she had her first kiss with and Jayden her first boyfriend, things with Jayden, she couldn't tell.
She minimizes and goes straight to the call log. Knowing Jewel, there was no way that girl was going to be awake by now.
Her mind crosses Jason and back the Jayden.
She decides to send Jason a text message and wish both Jewel and Jayden in person.

Jayden is the last person to walk into her room. Jewel observed.
Their Dad held the cake while Mum held a wrapped gift, Jason stood dejectedly, while Ivy sat on the bed.
This was more like a ritual on her birthday, a little get together, always held in her room. Jayden had never liked the crowd, this was one of the issues surrounding their little get together's.
Just that this time was a little bit different, they had a new member, Ivy.
"Happy birthday Moon." Her Dad wishes smiling, meanwhile, Jewel throws herself on him freely.
"Happy Birthday Jason. Happy Birthday, Jayden." She wishes smiling sheepishly.
"Happy Birthday," Jayden says calmly.
"Don't expect any from me," Jason says giving her a look.
"Bitter soul." She scoffs.
"Happy Birthday Sweety." Her Mum says calmly.
"Thanks Mummy," Jewel says calm.
"You all make a wish." Mum suddenly says, meanwhile, there Dad drops the cake on the bed. They knew what was next. Make a wish and blow the candles in unison.
This year she had one wish, not a new phone, laptop or clothes. She wanted peace restored in her home.
She wanted it back to how it used to be.
In less than three minutes, they were done with everything and had even cut the cake.
"Happy birthday Jewel." Ivy suddenly says smiling.
"Thank you," Jewel responds.
"I got you something..., "
Jewel takes the parcel immediately from her Dad. She starts opening it immediately.
Seeing what was in it. She jumps in excitement. Giving her Dad a tight hug.
He got her an iPhone 13, she had been requesting it since it got out. Now she was going to put away the eleven she was using.
Jordan suddenly brings out some things from his pocket. Slowly he hands one to Jayden, another to Jason and the third one to Jewel who couldn't believe her eyes.
All her dreams were coming true in one day.
If only things were much better.
They finally got the cars they were promised, they would be given on when they turned seventeen. Jewel had even forgotten about it.
"Thanks, sir," Jayden says, he didn't look very excited, even though Jewel knew there was no way he won't be, even though a little bit.
"Thanks, Dad," Jason says hugging their Dad.
"Thanks, Daddy," Jewel says smiling sheepishly. She slowly turns to her Mum who just stood at a corner.
"Thanks Mum."
Her Mum only gives her a gentle nod.

Jewel was very impressed with her parent's gifts this year. This was the best they had given them to her.
Things still seemed awkward, although it lightened up a bit today.
Her phone suddenly starts ringing. She picks it up immediately.
"Happy Birthday Bitch." Ekanem's screams.
"My eardrum." Jewel half yells.
"Thank you," Jewel responds smiling.
"So I planned a little together here, firstly before you say know," Ekanem says, just like she could read her mind.
"I'm making videos with you, I will be the last to wish you online today," Ekanem says.
Jewel suddenly remembers there was something like social media, and how she abandoned influencing.
"Since we have more or less videos together," Ekanem says. "Lastly, Leo begged me, to make you come, he said he has something for you. Don't tell him I told you." Ekanen says. Even though Jewel couldn't see her, she could tell she was smiling right now.
"My parents," Jewel says thinking. They were going to be home today of all days, she wasn't going to be able to bypass them.
Mentioning birthday get-togethers was the last thing she was even supposed to do.
"Come on, tell them you have a sleepover with me for your birthday," Ekanem says casually, meanwhile Jewel chuckles.
The main reason her parents won't even let her leave.

Geraldine stands at the door for a while, before finally gathering the courage to knock.
"Come in." Came her Mothers voice.
She doesn't move far from the door. She took note of the papers and files littered on the bed.
Her Dad flew out of town, earlier today. She didn't even get the chance to talk to him.
Things weren't the same anymore. No matter what he always had time for her. Even before the nude drama, her Dad hadn't been steady. He was always in different parts of Africa.
"You Dad dropped that for you." Came her Mum's voice, as they made eye contact. She didn't hold it for a second, looked away.
One look at it, she knew it was a gift. And the fact the box was big, made her a little bit curious about what was in it. She felt a little bit of relief, that her Daddy hadn't forgotten about getting her gifts.

Geraldine didn't continue the statement, not after the look her Mum threw on her.
"It's not a birthday party." Geraldine tries to explain. "I won't be out for long, it's Jewel. I wanted to see her. I haven't seen her since school..., " Geraldine says.
"Isn't she that boys sister?" Her Mum asks, emphasizing the boy.
"Jayden wasn't the one who released the picture, it was his..., " Geraldine stops immediately she realized she was defending him and was going to cause more drama with her mother.
Jayden was a dick, nothing was going to change those facts. He wasn't the one who released it, that doesn't change the fact he was the cause and those hurtful words he said to her. It did sting like a bee.
"You think he won't deny it?" Her Mum suddenly asks giving her a look.
"The drama going on is too much for me to handle. I don't want you to have anything to do with that person." Her Mum says.
"Mum, Jewel is my friend. I'm not going there for him." Geraldine lies through her teeth.
That was a lie. She was partially going to see Jayden too. Especially after her discussion with Munachi, regarding Jayden. She told her a lot of things about Ivy and Jayden, which she was determined to get answers to.
If Jayden still wanted them as a thing. Why was he still screwing Ivy?
And she wanted an answer to a question. She wanted to know if he was still with her, even while they were dating, even though the shit was going to hurt like hell.
She wasn't going to guilt-trip him or anything. She just wanted answers.

The look her Mum gave her at that moment. She regretted even uttering those words, and wish the ground could just swallow her.
What was she even thinking?
Coming to ask permission to go to a sleepover, after everything that had happened.
Jewel slowly turns to her Dad who looked like he just got in from the gym. She couldn't remember the last time they both went together. Things had changed. She wasn't Daddy's little girl anymore.
"It's just a sleepover between you and two of your female friends, to be clear?" Dad suddenly asks.
"Yes," Jewel responds.
"Okay, but make sure you call me before you go to bed. And Musa is going to be there to pick you up as early as 8, agreed?"

The first name thing. Jewel knew what was next. She didn't want to be part of it. She hurried out of the room immediately. She had gotten her Dad's consent.
On closing the door, she stops there, curious.
"It's her birthday, her friends want to do something special for her. We should be glad she is getting past that incident. And do everything possible to make that happen..., "

Jewel fiddles both fingers, in anxiety, while she listened.

There is silence.

A toxic one at that.

Anything that had to do with the party was a very big speciality of his. He looked for every excuse to throw a party. Convincing Jason about a little get together was pretty hard, he wouldn't dare bring up a party, not after what happened at Leo's.

Jewel walks alongside to side with a smiling Ekanem. She noticed Ekanem looked very much excited.
"You mean that ride is your?" Ekanem asks smiling, meanwhile, Jewel smiles back nodding her head. It was her very first car.
"Wow," Ekanem says, her smile suddenly faded, as she thought about something. In no time it appears again. Though Jewel didn't miss the change. Even though she didn't comment on it.
They both walk alongside each other, till they got to Ekanem's room. She open the door immediately.
"Happy Birthday!" Leo yells laughing meanwhile she admired the room. A "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEWEL" banner was hanging with a ribbon, which made her wonder when they had the time to organize this.
"Thank you!" Jewel responds, meanwhile Leo pulls her into his arms. She inhales his deodorant, which almost choked her, due to how close her nose was. She had to take her head up.
"Gross." Ekanem comments, glaring at the both of them. Jewel only smiled at the way she kept her face. "So cliche."
This time, Leo laughs.
"Don't be jealous, Oya come let me hug you," Leo says pulling away from Jewel and giving Ekanem a mock smile.
"Get out." Ekanem smiles hitting his arm hard.
"Ouch!" He smirks.
"Jewel make yourself comfortable." Ekanem suddenly says.
"We planned games, monopoly to be specific, I want to wipe some people's ass," Ekanem says and laughs.
"After stealing. Cheat. Be careful of Ekanem. She steals before the game begins." Leo warns Jewel.
"That's what they say, when they can't win you, they assume you are a thief," Ekanem says and chuckles.

Jewel found the question embarrassing, to think Ekanem was just laughing over it, like he said nothing.
She admired their friendship in a way.
"Then chess, ludo, or what? Whichever you prefer, or video games." Ekanem says. Jewel only nods her head, she wasn't familiar with video games, she didn't like playing any.

"I will leave in two hours, will be back before you guys know it..., "
"Where to?" Leo asks, that was also the same question Jewel had in mind.

She says and turns to the bed. Jewel's eyes land on the beautiful chocolate cake. The size wasn't so big, and it looked so yummy.
"Leo, you do the filming, even when I'm off. Unawares shots, I need that too." Ekanem instructs.
Meanwhile, Leo hisses.
What am I now, your cameraman?" Leo asks? Jewel couldn't help but smile. Especially with the miserable look on his face.
Jewel noticed he was looking much better than the previous days. Looked more cheerful.

Immediately she rang the bell, the door is pushed open. Making her wonder how close the person was to the door.
Taking her eyes up, it meets Jewel's Mum's. She couldn't remember the last time they spoke. In the few times she had been here.
She looked like a very quiet lady, who rarely spoke. When you see Jewel, you might be wondering if she gave birth to her, not only they were very different, especially in behaviour. She looked more like an elder sister than a mother.
"Good afternoon Ma!" She greets, meanwhile Jewel's Mum moves away, giving her space to come in, which she does.
"How are you? You missed her, she should be in your house by now, for the sleepover." Jewel's Mum says, confusing Geraldine.
"Sleepover," Geraldine mutters quite confused. She noticed the look Jewel's Mum gave her, like she could see through her soul. It was terrifying.
"Oh, it wasn't you. I forgot..., "
"Yh, maybe you didn't hear her clearly," Geraldine responds oblivious of what Jewel's Mum was getting out.
"Well, she isn't home..., "
"I came to see Jayden too." Geraldine rushes her words.
She didn't miss the shock on Jewel's Mum's face.
"Jayden?" She asks.
She looked very surprised.
"Yes," Geraldine responds calmly.

Jewel sits on Ekanem's bed while she made up. The make-up was looking so serious, like she was going somewhere important.
Leo had just stepped out. They hadn't really talked a lot, and that helped on her part.
"Things with Leo are awkward right?"
Ekanem asks like she could read her mind.
Jewel turns to Ekanem with a serious look.
"Don't give me that look. It's very obvious with the way you both have been behaving." Ekanem explains.
"Like whenever he tries to get close to me, it feels like Nathan is so close to me. I even slap him hard the other day." Jewel says looking very honest.
She needed someone to understand her.
"I panic when he gets so close." She says.
"You haven't gotten over it," Ekanem says calmly. "It's normal. It's a phase, it will definitely pass, I promise." Ekanem says now sitting close to her.
"It's scary. Very scary." Jewel says.
"Don't let Nathan put you in such bondage. You can overcome it. Leo isn't Nathan, always tell yourself that. I care a lot about Leo, but if this messes with your mental health, you both should give each other space, so you could heal." Ekanem says slowly.
If anyone had told Jewel, she would be listening to Ekanem's advice and in her house, she would never have believed. Now she realized what it meant by 'Dont judge a book by its cover

She was feeling bored, but keeping this busy helped. To think she would never have believed, she could stay without social media.

She had thought about what Ekanem said about Leo, staying away from him or trying to make it work.
She wasn't ready for both. If there was something she wanted most, it was to eradicate Nathan from her head.
Slowly, she goes into the water again. Stays in for almost a minute, only to hear a very huge sound, accompanied by a splash.
"Jewellllllllll." Came Leo's terrified voice. She felt him grab her, dragging her. She couldn't yell or scream, due to the water.
He had successfully dragged her to a corner, before turning to her. His eyes were red, probably from the water.
"What?" She asks, surprised at his outburst.
"I thought you were drowning, " Now he was out of the water. "Come out," Leo yells frightening her. "Come out." He repeats, stretching his hands, she holds on to it. She pulls herself out, with his help. She holds her when she is almost falling.
"Don't do that ever again." He warns. She noticed the panic in his eyes. He looked scared.
"Leo?" She calls out calmly when he attempts to walk away. Suddenly feeling self-conscious in the bikini she was putting on.
"It's fun, I did it on purpose." She tries to explain. "Come on, let's swim." She blurts out without thinking about it.

"Thank you. I didn't know you were coming." Jayden says calmly.
Geraldine observes the room closely, without responding.
His room was neutral. Not boyish or girlish. It was just a place for rest. She noticed the laptop, tablet and books scattered on his bed. Which he was trying to get rid off.
Like she was planning on sitting on the bed.
She scoffs, while she settles down on the mini couch. When Jayden noticed she was settled. He sits on the bed, facing her.
There is an awkward silence, like they had nothing to say to each other.
"You know, I have been thinking. Geraldine says and suddenly gets up like a possessed creature, meanwhile Jayden stared back at her curiously.
"We should just do it," Geraldine says moving close to Jayden, who seemed a little bit confused.
"Have sex." She says joining him on the bed.
The shock on Jayden's face was evident. He wasn't familiar with this behaviour, especially when she touches him in the least expected place.

This wasn't the girl he had come to love talking. She seemed like a total stranger. She would never do this, demand for sex in this way. Besides he had decided to abstain like she wanted.

Jayden avoids eye contact, he didn't bother denying it.

Geraldine could feel a light kiss on her cheek, while she pretended to be asleep.
He could feel him lean closers, pulling her to himself. She could hear his heartbeat.
"Jayden."
There is a knock on the door, that minute he gets up.
Geraldine slowly opens her eyes, only to see he opened the door wide.
Immediately he turned, their eyes met.
"That's the condition for having my girlfriend over." He says effortlessly.
"She knows?" Geraldine wasn't comfortable with the new development. How was she going to be able to make eye contact with Mrs Adenuga again?
She already felt so cheap, humiliated and worthless as it was. Jayden refused her.
Throwing such tantrum was low of her, but the fact she couldn't get Jayden to have sex with her did sting.

"I'm not Nathan." Leo half yells. "I'm not him." He repeats and gets up. Meanwhile, Jewel's eyes suddenly meet with something, that shocks her.
"You tattooed my name on your back?" She asks.
He paused, realising she had seen it.

The day had been toxic enough. He was only glad they had stopped fighting.
"N," Geraldine responds turning to him.
"She told my Mum she was coming to your place, you guys had a sleepover planned."
"OMG! Is that why your Mum asked me? I swear to God I don't know where she is. If she had told me, I would have covered her tracks." Geraldine says honestly.
"I have been trying to call Jewel but she isn't picking." April suddenly says walking in on them.
Geraldine swallows a huge lump in her throat, not ready to make an eye contact with her.
