Kokichi P.O.V
Shuichi and I are on our morning walk right now. We're currently at the village's bakery. I decided to buy us two muffins. We left the store with our bag of muffins and started to head back to the palace. Unexpectedly we heard some strange noises coming from an alleyway.
"Shuichi, did you hear that?" I asked
"Yeah, why?"
"Let's go check it out!" I said while grabbing Shuichi's hand and running towards the strange sound."
"K-Kokichi?! Are you sure this is the best idea?" Shuichi said while stopping us both
"Yeah. Why?" I asked
"Don't you think it could be something dangerous?" Shuichi asked
"No. Besides we have guards all over the town on patrol."
"That doesn't mean we should wonder around in alleyways following strange noises"
"You've made a great point, Shumai. But unlike you I'm adventurous"
With that I let go of Shuichi's hand and ran into the alleyway.
It was dark, really dark. I went a little bit further into the alleyway. It was dirty. I eventually heard something shuffle around, I saw a tiny little figure right next to two other one's. The figure's eventually turned their heads towards me. They were kids.
"K-Kokichi!? Why did you run off like that?" Shuichi said while yanking me backwards
"Chill, they're just kids."
"What do you mean? The strange noises were coming from those kids?" Shuichi pointed a finger at the children.
"Yes" I said
One of the kids walked up to me and handed me a moldy muffin.
"Thank you!" I said trying to make the kid feel happy
The child just smiled back at me and gave me a hug.
"Hey, Shuichi. I wanna take these kids in." I said
"Um, we don't even know where they're from, who knows if they're parents are coming back for them or if they just left them here. We don't have any reason to take them in anyway."
"Yeah, but I still want to take them anyway, plus, if they're parents are coming back for them, why did they even leave them in an alleyway? Also, it looks like they've been here for a while."
Another little figure walked up to me and tugged on my clothes.
Then the tallest, which seemed to be the oldest of the three figure's, walked towards the two and tried to take them off of me.
The other two kids didn't budge.
"How about we take them in for now and then see if they tell us what the situation is. If they don't, we'll announce our current situation to the kingdom and try to find they're parents." I said
". . .fine"
~Later~
"So, can you tell us what's going on?" I asked the three kids
". . ."
"Um, It's getting late. Maybe we should send them to bed." Shuichi suggested
"Okay. We can talk about this tomorrow" I said
I walked the kids to the guest bedrooms and said goodnight.
~In The Morning~
"So um, what do you want to eat for breakfast?" I asked the kids
". . .We can eat anything" One of them said
"Okay then"
I was feeling really awkward during this conversation.
When our breakfast was served the kids didn't hesitate to grab a hold of their forks and start eating.
They finished their food in a fast amount of time.
"You guys finished quickly." I said
". . ."
"So um, what do you want to do today?"
"Is there a garden?" the little girl said
"Yes there is indeed, would you like to go?" I asked
"Yes please" she said with a smile
"Okay, let me finish my breakfast first. Then we can go" I said
"Okay" She said
. . .
While we were walking to the garden I decided to ask what their names are.
"So, what are your names?"
". . .I'm Katsumi" The little girl said
"I'm Kai" Said the little boy
"I'm Tatsuya" Said the older child
"Well it's nice to meet you all." I said
We spent some time in the Garden until Kai spoke up.
"Who was the man that was with you yesterday?" Kai asked
"His name is Shuichi, and he's the ruler of this kingdom." I said
"Wooahh, what's it like to rule a whole kingdom?" Kai asked
"Well that's a question to ask Shuichi" I said while smiling
"What's the king doing anyway?" Katsumi asked
"He's telling our royal guards about the situation we're in."
"Hey, uh, what's your name?" Kai asked
"Oh mine? I guess I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Kokichi." I said
"So Kokichi, what's the situation we're in?"
"Well, since you guys didn't talk yesterday. Shuichi and I decided to send out our royal guards to spread the news about you guys. That way we can get in contact with your parents."
"Um, Kokichi. We should've spoken up yesterday, but we were really unsure on what to do so I think it's best to tell you now." Tatsuya said
"Our parents passed away when we were infants" The all said in unison
"Oh, really. I'm sorry to hear about that." I said
"It's okay, that was the past, we agreed to focus on the future!" Katsumi said
"That's a great idea. Well, I'll have to report this to Shuichi as soon as possible."
"Okay, why don't we go now" Katsumi suggested
"Are you sure? You guys can hang out in the garden for a little bit more."
"No that's okay, we can go inform the king now." Katsumi said
~A Few Months Later~
We weren't able to find a nice home for Kai, Tatsuya, or Katsumi. So Shuichi and I decided to keep them here.
I'm glad we kept them because over the years I developed a bond with them. Saying goodbye to them would've been hard. But now we're a happy family.
Maybe in the future we'll find more kids, then we can give them a nice home like Kai, Tatsuya and Katsumi. I hope we can do that. It would be really nice to help other kids like we did with ours.
