butterflies flit from my bleeding squared shoulders
as i breathe in the northern chill
the last of the deathly winter that stole it all from me
this is the last time i let them bear their arms
this is where i plant my feet in the ground
burn the bridges that were never meant to be built
let the amber flames lick my skin
and my hair catch alight in the glowing sunset
this is the ending of a shredded chapter
and i let myself burn with a fury of a decade well worn
shatter everything that once adorned my shelves
and pry my way out of the devastation around me
my fingers shaking and foaming at the mouth
i let them see the savage buried underneath
that had been smothered for so long
once i learn to rein my fire
they'll find it was burning all along
if i ever cared to let it free
