I once was held back by the boulders just under the Red Sea
The day I realized I had nothing to lose
Was the day I broke free
My hands escaped the chains
Along with myself
Releasing me freely into the cool water
I float up slowly
But quickly begin chasing the light
And then the air finally fills my longing lungs
I relax as my new breath holds me up like a bed on top of the waters surface
My ears are still under water but
I don't mind
I'm no longer drowning
I take a moment to appreciate the silence the sea gifts
There's an island somewhere in the distance I'll soon reach
So I thank the heavens above for the life that brought me here
Then start to swim
