Meena's Mother: Yenga ippadi vaai koosama pesureenga?

Parvathy who happened to walk past, hears the conversation. She walks up to the group.

Parvathy: Enga, ithu seri illanga. Vaaiku vanthatha pesateenga.

Hearing Parvathy's angry voice, Mullai realises that there was a problem. She quickly heads over to her mother.

Mullai: Amma, yenna aachu?

Parvathy: Ivanga unna thappa pesuranga di.

By then, alot of people in the hall turn towards the direction of the commotion.

Mullai: Amma ellarum paakuraha.

Parvathy: Paartha parthutu pogattum.

Mullai looks around and sees Meena's confused face. She whispers to Parvathy.

Mullai: Amma vera yaarukavum illati Meenakaga. Avuhalum unakku ponnu mathiri thaana. Avuha valakappukku vanthuthu sandai vendaam. Please Ma.

Parvathy looks at Meena and takes a breath. Controlling all her emotions, she smiles at Meena. She then walks out of the hall to the garden. Mullai follows behind.

Mullai: Amma, nilluma. Enga pora?

Parvathy: Ithukku mela naan inga irukkurathu seriya irukkathu di. Naan veetukku kelamburaen

Mullai: Aiyo Amma. Appadi enna thaan nadanthuchu?

Parvathy: Vera ennadi nadakkanum. Unna thappa pesurangadi. Nee kalyaanam panni ondrarai varusham aaguthu. Aana innum nalla seithi sollala. Athu naala ethavathu koraiyanu pesikiranga.

Mullai's eyes widen in shock.

Parvathy: Meena oda amma evvalavo solliyum avanga kevalama pesuranga. Itha kekka thaan ellarum enna inga koopiteengala?

Mullai: Amma, nee en ma varutha padura. Ippo thaan naanum avuhalum kathalikeerom la. Ellame nalla tha nadakkum.

Parvathy: Ennadi olarura?

Mullai: Aama ma.

Mullai lowers her gaze and has a shy smile on her face. However, Parvathy's reaction was otherwise. A angry look appears on her face.

Parvathy: Appo unga rendu per kulla onnum nadakaliya?

Mullai: Po ma.

Parvathy: Appo ivalavu naala ennai yemathuniya. Anniku nee hospital poyittu vanthapo naanga veetukku vandhu koodiya seekeram nalla seithi sollanumnu sonnapo sirichiyae. Appayum onnumae illaiya? Ivalavu naala naan thaan emanthutaen illa. Cha.

Mullai: Amma, nee yen ippadi pesura.

Parvathy: Pesatha di. Pethavalukku thaan theiryum. Oorae unna kevalama pesuthu. Aana nee yenna naa atha pathi kavala padama irukka.

Parvathy walks away angrily and leaves the house compound. Mullai goes after her till the gate and tries to persuade her but Parvathy refuses to listen.

Mullai takes a deep breath and heads back into the house, She gets busy with the celebration there, hiding all the pain. What she did not notice was that Kathir had actually heard her conversation with Parvathy. He had been in the garden attending to a phone call. Just as he was about to go back in, he had heard everything that Parvathy had told Mullai. He had been patient till the end of the function before asking Meena's mother as to who the relatives were. She had then narrated the entire incident and shown him who the two ladies were. Just before they left, Kathir had spoken to them and had told them off for their unkind words and their ruthless behaviour towards Dhanam and Mullai.

Kathir holds Mullai's hand and caresses her palm. He then kisses her palm. Mullai hugs him and starts to cry. Kathir caresses her hair and comforts her. When Mullai is more steady, Kathir speaks.

After a while Mullai breaks apart from Kathir. Kathir stands up and walks to the shelf. He picks up his sombu and offers the water to Mullai who at first refuses.

Kathir: Konjam thani kudi.

Mullai drinks the water and Kathir takes back the sombu. He places it on the shelf and heads towards the light switch. He switches off the light and goes back to the bed.

Kathir: Nalla thoongi eluntha ella seriya poyidum. Paduthuko.

After Mullai lies down, Kathir lies down on his side of the bed.

The next minute, Mullai snuggles close to him. Kathir holds on to her and the two of them slowly fall asleep. This time, both hearts and minds were at peace.
