... but he's a little older, a lot more apathetic, and a better-paid killer.

Aki had an awful childhood with a violent, extremely abusive father and a mother who was too afraid of him to love Aki and turned to abusing him too. When he finally realized he could run away, what he thought was finally a kind person who wanted to help him offered him a place to stay in exchange for him doing his "chores." The then-12-year-old didn't know that those chores would involve murdering innocent people. Eventually, he ended up killing that person and going it on his own again. 

It's been 12 years since Aki ran away from home, and the only freedom or independence he ever found came in the form of murder. It took a long time, but now that the now-24-year-old is an adult, he's taken much more seriously by clients and charges an assload of money per job and no longer has to live on the streets. Now that he's particularly "successful", as the number of victims continues to rise, he's being consistently hunted by the FBI, various bounty hunters, and even competition hitmen and killers. It seems that everyone wants him jailed or, preferably, dead. Brought in alive (due to legal reasons), he's worth $10 million dollars in bounty. It's no wonder he has to move under the cover of night from city to city every night just to stay alive.
