The Adventures of Shelby F. Squirrel and Friends

My name is Eleanor Lawrie, and since I retired from a career as a professional musician, I have enjoyed writing.  Joining a group helped a lot.  Writers Forum began in 2009 at the Thorold Public Library and this year we are happy to say we have a membership of 16 people. 
The book I would like to promote on Wattpad is called 'The Complete Adventures of Shelby F. Squirrel and Friends'. It is a set of 24  stories about a flying squirrel from about the age of three months into his third year.
They were written for fun, but in each story there is a very subtle lesson in life, or a small glimpse of what real flying squirrels experience.  
Every story could lead to discussion in a classroom, from the meanings of some of the words, to which parts of the narrative are in fact true to nature. Since I openly admit to an amount of poetic licence, finding the circumstances or particular enounters that are pure fantasy could be a lively discussion.  Character study, as well, emerges as Shelby has bouts of hiccups and stuttering, which he finds rather annoying. Getting along with others, doing what one is told, being kind and thoughtful, learning to trust, etc. are the side effects in the stories, a by-product only, but clear nonetheless, arising now and then as the stories unfold. 
Because of these qualities the book is recommended for school use, perhaps also as a way to interest young people having difficulty reading. 
The second half of the book is called Shelby on the Farm.  The whole group of friends that develops in the first tales, moves to a forest near a farm and the fun, learning and adventure just keep rolling along.
