it was just a small incident. it’ll be fine…i think.

            ' you're not as close to death as i thought , ' while intended as a joke , it didn't sound as such due to the monotone delivery .  
            despite the earlier nerves , the man was calmer , more settled with its focus on the animal before it , hands buried in lucky's fur . in fact , his usual stoic expression had softened , and his hands didn't twitch . 
            ' i excercise regularly , eat as much as i can afford . . . impersonating you was still a challenge . it doesn't sound like it , but i mean that as a compliment . '

                   [ clint  moved  to  sit  cross  legged  on  the  floor,  one  arm  going  to  rest  around  the  dog's  back.  he  gave  lucky  a  gentle  pat  before  shrugging  at  the  other's  words. ]  i  have  a  decent  diet.  still  do  have  to  work  out  and  all.  protein  bars  are  my  best  friend.  and  i  gotta  stay  fit  to  pull  back  my  bow.  thing's  heavy.

            visibly unsure of himself , as if its mere presence would ruin everything , it laid a hand on the dog's head . with the man's encouragement , his fingers curled into the fur , and it pet down his neck . 
            without any negative reaction from dog or owner , the tension eased from his shoulders , and the feeling of impending doom quieted to a bearable murmur . 
            he eyed the dog , then barton . ' both of your diets are terrible , i'll never understand it . ' 

“oh i wouldn’t go that far. you do look very handsome in purple,” she replied with a smile, watching as he straightened his tie. kara reached up, gently centering the tie a little after he had let it go. “you know, you didn’t have to wear a tie, you could have just worn the suit,” she chuckled, noticing the slight awkwardness that was filling the air. this was sort of new territory for both of them. “considering my car is full of aspen’s stuff, i’m more than okay with you having arrows in the back of your car,” she laughed, gently squeezing his arm before she moved her purse to her other hand.

                   "i  love  the  purple.  looks  amazing.  maybe  even  better  than  on  me,"  he  said,  wrapping  an  arm  around  her.  "i  might  have  to  show  you  off  extra  today."  his  other  hand  straightened  out  his  tie,  still  feeling  a  bit  awkward  about  the  whole  thing.  the  archer  wasn't  much  one  for  fancy  dates,  or  dates  in  general,  really.  being  a  hero  was  busy  work  for  him.  "we  could  uh,  take  my  car  if  you  want.  i  just  hope  you  don't  mind  the  arrows  in  the  back.  haven't  had  a  chance  to  clean  it  all  out."

“not too good at dressing up? well, if this is ‘not too good’ then i’d hate to see what you look like when you’re good at it,” she laughed, scrunching her nose up slightly before she looked down at her dress again. “it was between this one and a green one, but i figured you’d like the purple one more, so i had to go with this one,” she replied, a small blush forming on her cheeks at the compliments. she was very nervous, but she hoped she was at least doing an okay job to hide it. “thank you, clint. it’s been a while since i got all dolled up.”
