Literary Arts Statement

When the urge to write overtakes me I am compelled to write fast and loose.  Getting the ideas down- that is the marrow.  I work in spurts, starts and fits.  My poetry is free verse. Using as few words as possible to create a reaction for the reader to experience.  If I've changed the reader, even slightly I will be satisfied.  My stories are short and are mostly set in the southeastern United States.  I served in the Navy and that provided me with an enormous amount of characters to draw from.  My subject matter varies.  My favorite writers are Tom Robbins, Chuck Palahniuk & J.K. Rowling.  I enjoy reading young adult fiction, especially if it’s setting is a future dystopian work that might teach us something about our own futures.  

As an artist is my most important duty to take many shots for that one good photo and to write fifty poems for the one that is worth my asking someone to read it.  I try to condense and edit all my creative work so that when you see it, it will be worth the wait. I put the marketing and sales portion of my artistic work on hold in order to give my children the attention they deserve.  Now that they are older I intend to bring you the very best of all that I've done.  I sincerely hope that you are moved by my efforts.
