Marsell was born in Detroit Michigan in the year of… well, a good while ago. After graduating from Cass Technical High School, Marsell went to work for the Chrysler Corporation as a conveyor loader. Shortly after beginning his employment with Chrysler, he married, and fathered three children. Thirty-one years later, and after having gained the position of production supervisor, he retired at fifty. He then suffered an acrimonious divorce from his second wife, whereupon, and while needing someplace to lay his head, he moved into a transient, third rate, hotel, while giving the home to his ex, and youngest daughter.

When he first moved into the hotel, he was an avid golfer, playing every day from dawn to dusk. Having lowered his handicap to near scratch, and winning a tournament at even par, and behind a debilitating shoulder injury, he was unable to continue playing golf. Not being able to play anymore, he had a lot of free time on his hands, whereupon, he took up writing.

He didn’t know it at the time he took up residence in the hotel, but soon discovered that this particular state funded, low rent, hotel, located on Detroit’s south-west side, was a home to many addicts, pushers, prostitutes, and several individuals, who were recently released from prison, both, female and male. While living there, he gained first hand knowledge of the nefarious activities perpetrated in the grimy halls, and small, dingy, rooms, and it was those experiences, which provided him with a wealth of material for his black urban manuscripts.

After pounding out ten urban fictions, covering everything from drug use, prostitution, gang crime, murder, and romance/erotica, and having always been a science fiction fan from his teenage years, he thought he’d try his hand at writing a Sci-Fi tale, which culminated in the work “Alien Plot” and its three sequels, the first book of which will soon be published by Hobbes End Publishing.
