@hana177 I understand what you mean. I did think about ending it differently, but ultimately decided to give them a happy ending. It really wasn't John's fault he acted the way he did. He was a victim too and they did love each other. That was a very hard story to write. I had to edit out portions because of the PG13 rating here. The full version is more angsty and painful, IMO. Thanks so much for reading!

I really like your story "Tomorrow"! I read it a year ago and read it again a coupe of months ago. It is really well written and thought through. The only thing I had to nibble on was the ending - even though I understand it and it makes sense for a happy ending. BUT: I really felt sorry for Margeret and I found she deserved ... more. Like in the movie "The vow" the one being forgotten can't even get angry, because there just is no wronged party - it is as it is. I personally would have liked it better if Margaret had really TRIED to move on.
But again: apart from my very subjective view of the ending as a reader - I really liked it and enjoyed your writing style!

I have self published my second story 'More Than Words' on Amazon. This was originally titled 'Once Upon a Time'

Though this story was inspired in part by the characters from North & South, it is not a retelling of the story. This is a modern day fairy-tale with magical elements.

I've self published my story 'The Whistle Echoes' on Amazon. This was a story I wrote years ago. It is a sequel to Elizabeth Gaskell's novel, 'North and South', picking up where the book left off.
