I'm an indie author of fantasy and sci-fi, and my current series is The Druid Chronicles.  I started writing "Child of Storms" to get into the mind of Angie, the chosen of the main protagonist, Davis, when I couldn't figure out how she would react to a certain important event in the plot.  What started out as an exercise turned into a story with a life of its own.

A century since the Fracture occurred, when countless massive earthquakes destabilized the Earth's crust and catalyzed the tsunamis that devastated the shorelines of every continent.

Ninety-eight years since the chain reaction along the tectonic plates catalyzed the fiery violence of volcanic eruptions around the globe.

Ninety-seven years since the sun disappeared and a worldwide volcanic winter began.

Ninety-one years since the atmosphere cleared, allowing the sun to warm the air and thaw the soil.

Eighty-four years since the polar ice caps returned to their pre-Fracture size and the oceans returned to their original boundaries.

Seventy-nine years since the Earth ceased its restless quaking and flexing... mostly.

Seventy-two years since the emergence of Travelers, courageous individuals who blazed trails in their explorations. 

Sixty-nine years since humankind started coming together again to form towns and communities.

Sixty-five years since populations of wild animals, insects, and birds have stabilized and become abundant once again.

Fifty-eight years since most of the rivers and streams were cleansed of pollution.

Thirty years since trade between communities has been re-established. The need for Travelers has dramatically diminished.
