The son of a zoo director and an art therapist, I live in the midwest United States with my wife and young son.  I have thirty years of martial arts experience and am an instructor in Jeet Kune Do and Kali under the legendary Dan Inosanto.  I got my MFA in 2007 and have continued to study every aspect of writing since then. I also taught for the University of Iowa's International Writing Program for 5 years and teach college writing and lit classes now.
