Humberto (Tito) Lugo-Vicente

Born on April 14, 1954, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Humberto Lugo Vicente, known as Tito Lugo, is a distinguished pediatric surgeon deeply committed to medicine and community service.
During his schooling at Colegio San José de Río Piedras, Dr. Lugo Vicente excelled academically and led the local rock band "The Red Stones". He displayed exceptional talents in music and martial arts, earning black belts in Shotokan and brown belts in Taekwondo. His dedication to his goals was evident in his efforts to finance his karate education through various jobs, including selling newspapers.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico in Chemistry and Biochemistry, Dr. Lugo Vicente was honored with the Chemistry Medal and the Facundo Bueso Medal for academic excellence. He continued to excel in medical studies, becoming a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Lugo Vicente has left a significant impact in pediatric surgery. After specializing in General and Pediatric Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico, he joined the faculty as a Professor of Pediatric Surgery. His commitment to education led him to hold leadership positions, including President of the Medical Faculty and Director of the Surgery Department at the University Pediatric Hospital.
A relentless advocate for improving medical services, Dr. Lugo Vicente fought to equip the University Pediatric Hospital with modern operating rooms, benefiting numerous children and families.
Beyond medicine, he enjoys a fulfilling family life with his wife Wanda Torres Otero and their four children. His dedication to community welfare and passion for medicine inspire new generations.
Currently practicing at San Jorge Hospital and the University Pediatric Hospital, Dr. Lugo Vicente provides quality medical care while pursuing interests in oil painting, writing, and enology, embodying balance and moderation in his life philosophy.
