Gian Carlo Vicaldo

¿Hello? ¡Hello!

I'm Gian Carlo Vicaldo, aka: SiroccoReader, and I'm an avid reader and writer of stories. I love writing Adventure, Fantasy, a little bit of Science Fiction (mainly steampunk and dieselpunk), and more recently Historical, a bit of Romance (in which the protagonist and his/her lover don't get together in the end), and those coming-of-age stories. I mostly write in third person because I grew up reading in that POV, but I also write in first person sometimes.

Japanese animator, director, and co-founder of Studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki and American director Tim Burton are my big inspirations. Miyazaki's films were so beautiful, whimsical, and fun, and the stories were great, and they influence me on how I came up with stories like my SkyEarth books. Tim Burton's movies were so dark, gothic, and quirky. I like those films and they influence me on the dark and quirky elements of my story, and a few of my characters like Escher Salvador from SkyEarth. Other inspirations are Rick Riordan, J.K. Rowling, Neil Gaiman, John Green, Scott Westerfeld, Cassandra Calre, Ursula K. Le Guin, Diana Wynne Jones, and Kathryn Lasky.

I'm not only a writer. I'm also an artist. I love to draw things like my characters, the settings of my story, and fan art of my favorite books, movies, video games and anime. I also paint, though I'm only a novice and I only paint some abstract art, but I'm currently painting a series of creatures of myth and urban legend. So many things: read, write, draw, and paint, and I couldn't find time doing those things because I procrastinate a lot and it became a problem. I'll manage eventually.
