Have any of you wondered the psychology behind why some people do the exact opposite of the feeling they want to express? Like why people are being horrible to people they like.

Do you know it is actually a defense mechanism?

It is called Reaction Formation. You conceal your true motive by giving a strong expression of the opposite.

A perfect example of this is how some people act towards their crushes. Some (I know a few of you do this) will roll their eyes at them even when they are flustered that their crush smiled or paid attention to them. There are those who will ignore them when they are paid attention to. Some may even play a prank or say painful things despite not meaning to. You know, the famous line: "They bully you because they like you." That is that.

Terrible way to hide your feelings, isn't it? But at least it is effective.

As you all may know already, I am a University student majoring in Psychology. I have observed in my class that some people are able to explain the theoretical reasons of human behaviors, but do not know the correct terms or there are those who simply do not know much about it at all.

So, I was thinking... How about I share some of the things I learn from class here and let's learn together?

Won't it be fun to share some ideas and opinions with each other? And if you want some additional insights or questions, just ask and I will do my best to answer. But if I can't, I can just approach my professors or maybe there will be others who are capable of answering them for us.

          What do you think?

P.S.: I am doing this because I am bored and I do not want to spend the entirety of the Holy Week cooped up in my room reviewing for the midterms next week.
