From about the time I was five years old I wanted to do something creative to make my living; something involving the arts. That didn't work out. I ended up working retail instead. When I retired from that I decided to get back onto working on my dream. I could tell about my education and my work experience but none of that has much to do with what I really want to do.

I did do something worthwhile though. In 1996 over coffee on a work break with Bytown Fire Brigade my good friend, Will Brooks, asked me what I thought we should be doing. I said I wanted there to be a monument to Canadian firefighters killed in the line of duty. He said, "Let's do it." He and I worked on that for the next twelve years. Many others joined in to help make it happen. In September, 2012, the Canadian Firefighters Memorial was dedicated. It commemorates and thanks all Canadian firefighters and honours all those Canadian firefighters who have died in the line of duty, whether we know about them or not.

So now I'm doing this. Thank a firefighter, read my stories here and buy my book on Smashwords. Thank you for reading this.

I am busy moving and involved with the Canadian Firefighters Memorial Service. When I get settled I'll be back to writing more of 'A War Story.'
