Aneek Noor

I am Aneek Noor. That is my real name. Though an alias comes with a sense of mystery and awe, I tend to reserve it for my stories. It is quite difficult to generate novel ideas these days. Thus, no matter how convinced I might feel that I have spawned something unique, the reality is that it may have already been used in some shape or form. Therefore, it is imperative that I focus my energy on how the story is told and the plot is shaped to keep readers engaged. I do love contemporary literature, however, my goal is to pay tribute to the classical style of literature through my writing while staying true to my original way of weaving stories. Even though this is my first novel, I am no stranger to writing. I grew up with a literature professor (my grandfather) and was compelled to read Dickens, Dumas and Dostoevsky at a young age. As I matured, I had developed an appetite for Poe, Lovecraft, Stoker and Shelley. That did not mean I never read contemporary literature. I still look up to King, Rice, Simmons and Barker as the gold standard for contemporary horror. 

Currently, I am an engineer by trade, but reserve time to write during weekends as an intellectual stimulation. Several ideas in the horror, thriller and science fiction genres have been percolating in my mind for quite some time. So, I thought it might be a good time to put strokes on the keyboard to bring those ideas to life for those who dare to read them. I appreciate the support and encouragement from my readers to keep doing this.
