Mandy Lessick

Hi, I'm Mandy and I'm an 18 year old aspiring writer from central Indiana. I'm pretty much your average college freshman. I love American Horror Story and Once Upon a Time. New Girl is the story of my life and The Office made me cry. 

I was born in Illinois and raised in a small town surrounded by cornfields. I was uprooted from that home the summer between my eighth grade and freshman year of high school and moved to central Indiana...which is the exact opposite of cornfields. This is where I've been living ever since, attending a high school of 2,000 or so kids all desperate to find themselves. This past June, I graduated with Academic Honors and I'm now pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education as well.

I've had a passion for writing since 3rd grade, when my teacher pulled me aside and started working on creative writing with me one-on-one. I've been writing ever since, though if I'm to be honest. I have had (and still have) many seasons in which I do not write. My mind is either a blank canvas or an overcrowded one, which can make writing a struggle at times. Still, I like writing when I can, with my topics ranging from suicide to zombie apocalypses. I also enjoy writing poetry, since that is a much less time consuming outlet.

The world is a harsh and scary place at times and can be hard to face alone. If you are ever feeling scared, alone, abandoned, please know that it isn't true. There is someone out in the world right now who can't stop thinking of you. And if you ever need to vent, talk, or cry, I'm always available. Stay smiling, because it is beautiful.
