The wind was a torrent of darkness along the gusty trees. The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon the cloudy sees, the road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor, and the highwayman came riding up to the old inn door... Emerald, the daughter of a poor innkeeper, spends her days hidden away, either serving the vile men that gamble and drink in her father's inn, or caring for her violent and abusive father. Never having met another soul, beside the men at the Inn, Emerald was lonely. That is, until one night when a strange man appeared at her window, and her whole life changed forever. I do not own the plot of this story. I simply got the idea from my favorite poem "The Highwayman " by Alfred Noyes. However, everything else, including names, are mine. I added some details to the poem that were never mentioned in it, deal with it!
