"Welcome home, Miss (y/n)." You slammed the door closed, twirling the car keys with your finger before handing it to one of the guards assigned to you for today, sent by no other than your uncle, typical. Honestly, you can't blame him for being overprotective, you are his only family, and that disgusted you.
"Family my ass. Who'd he bring this time?" You asked the maids upon sensing how tensed they were. You sighed, it was always like this. Your uncles has been pestering you to get married ever since he decided to take you under his care. That's why he's been very busy making your life a bit more difficult than it already is, including the promotion incident within your workplace. You didn't even bother going through the front door, you knew what kind of fate awaits once you step inside.
It may have fooled you several times but not this time. You rolled up the sleeves of your shirt and your trousers, stretching your shoulders before hoisting yourself up by the corner. You started to climb up your balcony using anything for leverage. With shaky hands, you finally reached the top. You let yourself collapsed on the hard pavement, as you tried to stabilize your breathing. You turned yourself around so that your back is on the floor. You now have a full view on the beautiful night sky. Your raise up your arms, almost as if you were trying to reach for the heavens before sticking up your middle finger to whoever is out there, watching you suffer to this extent.
As much as you wanted to pass out cold, you didn't want to mess yourself up more. You have to do your night routine to get the illusion of you having that infamous korean glass skin. What if I meet Shorter tomorrow? That single thought was enough to make you stand back up and head straight to the baths.
After your rigorous skincare, you plopped down your bed, letting the comfortable sheets embrace your whole frame. A sigh escaped your lips, "When will I ever be able to return your umbrella, Shorter?" You rolled over to the side and reached for your phone. Your face scrunched at the brightness of it, still, you unlocked your phone that's still charging and went scrolling on different social media applications.
Why did your one and only crush have to be part of the one and only organization you hate the most? You absolutely despise everything your uncle is affiliated with which is hypocritical as you're currently enjoying the benefits that comes along his line of work. "If only I could slide into his DMs instead of waiting like a lost child around his restaurant...ugh...damn it...." You buried your head back to one of your pillows and let out all your current frustrations. Upon calming down, the physical and mental exhaustion has finally caught up with your body. You decided to place your phone back to nightstand and hugged your pillows to sleep, wishing that you'll finally get the opportunity to talk to Shorter tomorrow.
Thanks to a little a birdie, your wish became a reality.

"A girl? You sure he's with a girl?" Shorter questioned as he leaned against the chair, feet up on the table. Sonny nodded in response, "Yeah, I took a picture of them and caught the plate number." He then showed him the screen of his phone. Shorter lowered his sunglasses, it sat on the tip of his know which abled him to get a better view on the alleged 'girlfriend' of Arthur. "Woah! The chick is hot! You sure that's the asshole's girlfriend and not a hostage situation?" Shorter snickered at his own statement. Although the picture was quite blurry, he can somehow make out the physical features of the girl and he could already tell how attractive she was.
Somehow, Shorter felt a sense of familiarity with her. It was as if, he already saw her face before....but where?
Shorter massaged the temples of his head as he tried to recall when did he ever came across with this girl. Was she one of his flings? One night stand maybe? Nah. I'll remember someone hot like her if that's he case.
