Peace

Cormac had his arm around Li's shoulders-heavy, warm, a warning. "Come on sweetheart," he said easily, but his hand squeezed Li's shoulder.

He murmured in a low voice. "Dont lay it on with a trowel, Hawk. Its a bit nauseating."

"I can be that," Li replied in an angry undertone. "Acting like you're in love has to be completely foreign to you! Do you love anything besides yourself?" Smiling again, he laid his head against Cormac's shoulder, felt the tension in the muscles.

Their luggage stowed in the back, Eric opened the rear door for them to enter. Li clambered in, hoping that Cormac would sit in the front with his brother Eric.

He did not. Cormac climbed in next to him, Cormac's large, muscular thigh pressed against his, Cormac's arm around his shoulders once more. It drew him tightly into to Cormac's side where he could smell his scent-a tang of soap and pine and something indefinitely masculine, as well.

Eric beamed at them approvingly before taking the driver's seat. As the Jeep left the airstrip, he told Li a bit about the island.

"It has been in the family for years..." Eric chirped along as he drove along a tarmac road, the thick foliage so close to the car that when Li reached out he grasped a fern. The action earned a chuckle from Eric. "He is so adorable. Who wouldn't fall in love with him?" Eric had laughed.

Cormac's face lacked emotion as he pulled Li closer to himself, insuring he couldnt repeat the action. He nodded in agreement to his brother.

Eric turned the Jeep into a private drive, large wooden gates open to the road. Li's eyes widened at the luxurious surroundings. We'd be staying there! He thought with disbelief.

The road that had wound through the thick forest before gave way to landscaped gardens bursting with colour and scent. Eric drove the Jeep over a little wooden bridge, a still, glassy pond covered in lily pads. Li could have sworn he had seen a school dart by as they crossed.

The road curved close to the sea before revealing a large circular drive and a low rambling villa that seemed to stretch endlessly into the distance, a maze of white stucco and terracotta roof tiles.

"Come on," Eric said, "Hilda will show you to your rooms. You will want ti rest before dinner."

Cormac climbed out of the Jeep, holding his hand out for Li to grasp as he steeped down. Li took it as a matter of course and wasn't prepared for the jolt of sensation that shoot through him when Cormac's cool, dry fingers encased his own.

Cormac glanced at him, eyes dark, sardonic. Knowing.

He knew too much.

Li dropped his hand and strode towards the villa.

Wide wooden doors opened to a tiled foyer and lounge, decorated more to impress than for comfort. It certainly impressed Li. The windows were open, the wooden shutters thrown wide to an open air corridor that led to the bedrooms. Only metres away Li could see a strip of white sand.

"Welcome, welcome," a woman entered the room. She was short and plump with her hair elegantly coiffed.

Li's guilt immediately returned.
