It is a little bit shorter than I had planned.  I had wrote it out longer but in retrospect I thought this would be a better place to stop.

To those reading thank you so much!! Maybe vote?

Chapter 3

Once again I find myself in the back seat of my dad's car this time it his new Chevy Silverado pick-up.  What can I say we like our Chevy trucks.  My dad is going to be so pissed when he sees my dress, at the house I put on a full length coat it being winter and all, so he has yet to see what is hidden underneath.  I am not worried about my mom, knowing her shell want to borrow it.

We pulled into the parking lot, it was filled with cars and it was a bit icy out, so dad had insisted that we drive his big-ass truck.  So when dad parked my mother and I simply stayed put and waited for him to help us out.  He open the door exposing us to the cold air, he picked me up bridal style and lifted me out and placed me on the ground gently without a problem.  Then he turned and helped my mother out, it's a good thing he is buff since he insisted to drive his tall ass truck.

We carefully made our way inside on the icy walkway, my exposed legs craving the warmth.  I just had to go with a short dress didn't I?  I followed my parents into the dimly lit banquet hall.  There was a dance floor at the back off the hall it was surrounded by twinkle lights and garland dressed on the pillars and draped across the dance floor giving the illusion of a night sky.  In the Christmas spirit mistletoe was hung for the unsuspecting couple.  Before the dance floor there is an array of round dining tables with white tablecloths and holiday centerpieces.

My parents hung up their coats, my dad looked handsome in his black suit, but he added some Christmas spirit with a forest green button down and a bright red tie  His hair was cut short and was a deep brown slowly making its way to gray.  We had the same blue-green eyes as me and a wide smile.  My mother Linda had her long blonde pulled into an elegant side bun.  She had big doe eyes that were a deep brown, she had big full lips and high cheekbones that complimented her features beautifully.  I had always considered myself lucky that I got my dad's eye color and smile and everything else from my mom, she was gorgeous.  Tonight she was dressed in a gorgeous deep green dress with a scoop neck with raw edging and bell sleeves.  It was gathered at the center with raw edged pleating at the back and an asymmetrical bottom hem.  She wore some black pumps with a red heel; playing on the Christmas spirit she is too cute.

They made their way to our reserved dinner table, while I continued to stand there in an attempt to find the courage to take my jacket off.

Come on Brenna. Remember what Natalie said.

At that thought Mikes face popped into my head and I knew I couldn't chicken out.  I turned around, facing the crowd so the coat check helped me take my jacket off.  Without thinking I turned to thank him, and as I did things became suddenly quiet as most conversations had stopped and were now gawking at me, some with their mouths open.

Head up Brenna, coaching myself as I made my way to our table.  I put a smile on my face and nodded hello's as I scanned the faces in the crown looking for Mike so tha . . . No.  I was just looking for familiar faces.  I recognized a few of dad's friends that he went out to lunch with, and their families.  Most people I had met before and some were new faces.  As I sat down conversation started back up, much to my relief.

I sat next to my mother sipping on a glass of water avoiding my father's gaze.

"Brenna" he said warningly.

"Charles" I taunted, he wasn't going to win this one, no way.  You should have seen his face the first time I bought lip gloss, end of the freaking world.
