Effie Stevenson was a peculiar girl. Not in the sense she was rude, or even annoying, but because she could do things others weren't able to. Her whole life revolved around her abilities, although others she knew might call them 'gifts'. She hated that word.
These abilities were a goddamn curse, not a present from her parents.
Effie Stevenson was a peculiar girl. Flowers grew from her hair, and vines were tangled around her limbs. These plants blossomed under her care, even more than they would usually. For a regular person, carrots grew only a small amount. For Effie, they doubled in size so much that the dirt caved in when it was removed. For an ordinary person, plants would only exist. For Effie, they flourished and could become sentient, teeming with intelligence and wisdom.
Effie Stevenson could control, create, and enhance plants and she hated it.
