The papers,
they said that the tsunami had been 11ft tall
and stretched for miles around town.
The doctors,
they said that they were so certain no patients had escaped
during evacuation.
The friends,
they said nothing, felt nothing, for they had not thought she would
leave so soon.
And the guardians,
they closed their eyes, held each others hands,
and whispered in coarse-grained voices, “She is home now.”
