Chapter 3

"Hadley, how do I look?" Gloria's voice rang out from her closet. She stepped quickly out of the large room to stand in front of me. She did a couple of twirls before stopping abruptly and said, "Hello? Are you even here?" She started to wave her hands in front of my face.

My mind was still set on the scene from earlier. Ever since I started this job I had seen some bad things, but that was defiantly the worst thing so far. Gloria's hands waving in front of my face snapped me back.

"Yea?"

She stopped acting like a nut and crossed her hands over her chest. "What's wrong with you? You have been acting weird all evening." Her usual bitchiness was replaced with a hint of concern.

"Nothing, I just didn't get as much sleep as I needed." I had not asked Gloria about the dead body in the conference room and I didn't plan on bringing it up. I knew it would probably spoil her unusually perky mood. I scanned her up and down once acting like I really cared about what she looked like, this woman could wear a burlap bag and make it look like a million bucks. "You look beautiful like usual Gloria."

She smiled at me softly and let the scrutinizing go. "Is that what you're wearing?" Her bitter tone stung me as it flowed out of her venomous mouth. "You do realize that you go where I go, which means that if you look bad then I look bad."

"I am assuming you don't like what I have on?" My sarcastic tone did not sit well with her.  I stood up slowly from the edge of her large bed and looked at myself in the long mirror on the far side of the wall. I was wearing a simple pair of black slacks and a plain button down black shirt. I didn't have very many ball gowns considering the fact that I had never went to anything to fancy my entire life.

Gloria walked over behind me and placed her cold pale hands on my shoulders. "If you would just slip into a simple black gown you would look so beautiful Hadley." She looked at me through the mirror glass as she spoke to me. She pulled the ponytail holder out of my bun that sit high on my head. The tasseled mess of curls crashed heavily onto my shoulders. "See such an improvement already. Let's get you into something a little sexier."

"Like anything you have would fit me." I said as I pulled away from her grasp.

"Ye who have little faith." She darted into her large closet.

I rolled my eyes and let out a long sigh. Gloria was at least 6 sizes smaller so there was no way she would have anything that would come close to fitting me. I was on the plus size side but I never considered myself fat, but I defiantly had some meat on my bones.

She didn't take any longer than a few minutes before emerged from out of her huge closet. She had a black cotton dress in her hands. She held it out to me with a large smile plastered on her face.

I grabbed the dress and rolled it over in my hands. "There is no way this will fit me." I said flatly as I held it up to my body.

This time Gloria rolled her eyes a me. "Just try it on, it stretches." She pointed over to her bathroom.

"Whatever, I will try." I walked over to the bathroom and shut the door tightly behind me. I slid quickly out of my clothes I had been wearing and stepped into the very pretty black dress. I held my breath in trying to see if that would help as I pulled the dress up over my curvy hips. To my surprise the dress stretched to accommodate my hips and fit very comfortably over my waist. My bra on the other hand was not the best choice for an outfit such as this one, my straps were over exposed and you could see the cups clearly around the edges.

I gave myself another quick look in the mirror and wished that I would have had a better bra to go with this. I stepped out of the bathroom crossing my hands over my breasts. "Tada, I guess you were right."
