The Alchemical Child is a dark academia novel about Sage, an apprentice of the alchemical arts. When her studies are interrupted by a letter from her estranged sister, Sage joins forces with a mechanical bird and a surly librarian as she begins to uncover the dark secrets hidden beneath her university's veneer of gold. Please note that Sage's city, her university, and her adventures are entirely fictional. This story deals with mental health and the following chapters are solely from the first draft.
