Ishitha's POV-The train stopped at a station for the other passengers to get in, so we had about fifteen minutes. Aarav and I had stepped out of the train to get some water bottles and snacks.
I looked around the station for a few seconds before setting my eyes on Aarav.
"Do you want to enact the train scene from DDLJ?" I asked him, taking a bite of my chocolate bar.
"Are you crazy?" He countered.
"Come on, Aarav. It'll be fun." I said.
"And it's your first time on a train. You need to have some amazing unforgettable memories." I tried persuading him.
He looked a bit unsure.
"Don't be such a spoil sport, come on!" I whined.
"What if you fail to catch up with the train, or what if your hand slips from mine?" He questioned.
"Look, zyaada se zyaada kya hoga? I'll stay back here, which isn't a problem, I can catch another train and join you back at another station." I reasoned.
"I'm still not sure about this plan." He said.
"I am." I said, rolling my eyes.
"We're doing it. It'll be super fun, trust me." I said, holding him by his shoulders and shaking it lightly.
"Okay." He sighed, giving in.
Right then an announcement was made that our train would resume its journey in less than a minute. I made sure I had some cash and my mobile with me, just in case.
"Go!" I said, pushing Aarav towards the train. He looked at me with an unsure look.
"Go!" I chuckled.
He went inside and kept our snacks in our coach before standing at the train entrance again.
I found an old man standing by a stall and walked towards him.
"Hi uncle. Aapne 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' dekhi hai?" I asked him.
"Haa, bohot baar dekhi hai beta. Tum kyu puch rahi ho?" He questioned back.
I then explained him what I was about to do.
He laughed and replied, "Chalo, thik hai."
I smiled at him and looked back at Aarav. He looked so scared, it was funny. Another announcement was made, and it was our cue to start.
The old man held my wrist.
"Mujhe jaane deejiye bau ji. Please bau ji, mujhe jaane deejiye." I started.
"Bau ji, please bau ji. Bau ji, Raj meri zindagi hai. Mai uske bagair nahi reh sakti bau ji. Bau ji mujhe mere Raj ke paas jaane deejiye bau ji."
I noticed people around looking at us.
"Bau ji please bau ji, mujhe mere Raj ke paas jaane deejiye." I cried.
The whistle blew and the train started moving.
"Bau ji please, I beg of you."
"Please bau ji, mujhe mere Raj ke paas jaane deejiye." I said, looking back and forth between Aarav and the old man.
"Please bau ji." I begged.
"Please bau ji, mujhe mere Raj ke paas jaane deejiye." I cried more.
The old man kept staring at Aarav, just like how it was supposed to be.
"Please bau ji. Bau ji, please."
"Please." I said, looking at Aarav, who had the exact expressions as Raj, minus the blood on his face.
The old man suddenly left my wrist and I turned to look at him.
"Ja Simran ja." He said, still staring at Aarav.
Suddenly DDLJ's tune started playing in the background. I'm pretty sure someone is playing along too.
"Iss ladke se zyaada pyaar tujhe aur koi nahi kar sakta." He added.
"Ja beta ja. Apne Raj ke paas ja."
"Ja Simran, ja jeele apni zindagi." He ended with the iconic dialogue.
I turned around and looked at Aarav before running towards him. People who were looking at us or atleast knew what we were doing, started clapping, howling and whistling.
Aarav stretched his hand out for me.
Suddenly, I felt like I'd miss the train and so I ran faster.
I kept my palm on Aarav's and he intertwined our fingers before pulling me inside the train and holding me by my waist.
I noticed him showing a thumbs up to the old man and the old man doing the same, exactly like in the movie.
Looking back at the station, I saw people still clapping and grinning widely at the act we just pulled.
I then looked at Aarav, who was looking back at me and smiling. Continuing the scene, I hugged him.
"Ouch!" He stated, playing along.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." I replied.
"It's alright Senorita. Bade bade desho mei aisi choti choti baate hoti rehti hai." He said.
We looked at each other for a few seconds before chuckling and leaning our forehead against each other's, before hugging.
Just when I thought that we could stop the act, a man from behind Aarav started singing, just like Anupam Kher, and ended the scene exactly like how it was supposed to end.
"Le jaayenge, le jaayenge, dilwale dulhania le jaayenge."
