-AYANDISWA BESS
It's been a month since the family drama and mom picked up some street kid and brought her home. Yes, I don’t like this mercy girl, it just feels like she’s here to take my place, my parents and I have recently gotten good with each other and now there's some new girl in the house. I never miss my mother’s show’s but tonight I will have to miss it especially knowing that it's Mercy’s show. I get out of class with my friends.
“I don’t understand why you not going to your mother’s show”
Venessa says and I roll my eyes
“Cause daddy’s little girl doesn’t like sharing her parents”
Connie says
“For someone who has 3 other siblings you sure act like a bratty only child that grew up alone”
Leah points out rudely
“I just have a bad feeling about her that’s all”
I say defensively
“No, you just being a spoilt brat Aya! You feel a little-scratch that, a lot threatened by Mercy’s presence. What are you afraid of? Your parents do everything for you!”
Leah points out and maybe she’s right, I am spoilt and I am so used to being the only daughter in the house amongst the guys and it doesn’t help that Mercy is not a pushover.
“So when is she going to school?”
Venessa asks and I shrug my shoulders
“Like I would know, I don’t care about her”
I say and they laugh
“If you didn’t then you wouldn’t feel threatened by her. She’s a cool chick Aya once you get to know her”
Connie says as we reach my car, our cars are parked next to each other’s. Connie gets into hers with Venessa as we say our goodbyes. I get into mine with Leah and we drive off to our complex listening to music while she tries to convince me to go for my mother’s sake who calls as we reach the complex
“Mother”
I answer while Leah gets off
“Hey honey how are you?”
She says
“Good mom and how are you?”
I ask
“I am great, what time will you be here?”
I roll my eyes
“I already told you I’m not coming”
She chuckles, not as in I’ve made a joke kind of life but the crazy one parents do when they about to dish your shiit out for you
“Watch your tone when you speak to me Ayandiswa, you getting a little too big for your shoes and that shiit is not going to fly with me. Do I need to remind you what happened the last time you took that tone with me?”
She asks and I don’t respond swallowing a lump in my throat
“Good. Now I expect to see you at home as soon as you finish at school”
She says
“Yes mom”
I mumble
“Good. Bye now”
She says
“Bye mom”
I say and then drag my little behind into the house. Leah is in the kitchen making something to eat
“Looks like Mrs Bess doesn’t take your shiit after all”
She says as I walk in, I roll my eyes
“Should I make you something to eat?”
She asks and I shake my head no
“I have to pick out a dress”
I say annoyed
“Shame mahn, so shopping it is?”
She asks and I shake my head no
“I am not getting a new dress for that girl”
I say and walk out of the kitchen heading to my room. I get in and call Roland, it feels like we haven’t spoken in ages. He just up’d and left for some reason, his phone rings and as I’m about to give up he answers
“My love”
He says
“Hey, you’ve been scarce”
I say
“I’m sorry babe, I’ve been a little busy”
He says
“Busy with what? So busy that you can't even call your own girlfriend?”
I ask him and he chuckles
“How are you Aya?”
He asks calmly annoying me even more
“Roland you just up’d and left. What the hell is going on with you?”
I ask
“It's work”
He says and I chuckle
“I am not stupid Roland, work wouldn’t just tell you to up and leave”
I say
“Some trips happen last minute Aya, listen I can't speak right now so we’ll talk later”
He says and cuts the call on me leaving me frustrated even more. He’s been gone for a week now and each day is worse than the other. I miss him so much and what pisses me off most is that this is not the first time he’s doing this thing of disappearing on me. I walk to take a shower and just stand under the warm water until I am calm enough. When I am done I get out and dry my body then wash my teeth and do everything and walk out to get dressed. I pack up a weekend bag and then head home. When I get home Mom is in the lounge with Aunty Serena and Ash, I greet all of them and hug each one of them and then go and put my things in my room. I head downstairs and meet Miso coming up.
“I didn’t think you were coming”
He says
“I wasn’t planning to but you know your mother, it was either I come or don’t live to tell the tale”
I say and he laughs
“That’s a little too dramatic don’t you think?”
I pop out my eyes at him
“Yaya is not to be messed with”
He laughs
“I guess, especially when she is tipsy”
He says and I’m not even shocked
“is she tipsy or drunk? When is dad coming home?”
I ask and he shrugs
“does it matter which is which? Mom can handle her liquor like a pro”
He says and I roll my eyes, he’s right though
“And dad?”
I ask and he shrugs
“I have no idea. So did you bring a dress?”
He asks and I nod
“Like I had a choice. Where is the princess?”
I ask and he shrugs
“Around the house or her room”
He says going to his room but stops midway
“Yanga is home”
He says and I turn around and head to him
“In his room?”
I ask and he nods. I rush to my brother’s room and knock once before opening the door
“WTF?!”
