Note: Just so it's clear, your heartbeat increases when you lie, and since werewolves have such good hearing, they can hear the slight hitch, which is how they know when you're lying.

Chapter 3-Amias' POV

With great reluctance, I left my beautiful little mate in the water, leading Byron away. Leaving her went against all of my instincts and made Aku, my wolf, silently howl inside me, but I knew it was for the best. At least for now. If my pack discovered her...

A growl threatened to slip past my lips as I imagined the Alpha’s grimy hands roaming over Azula’s naked body. She was mine! Mine. Nobody would know her perfection but me. No one!

As Byron and I made our way back to camp, he nattered on about that stupid rogue. But all that filled my mind was Azula. Her blinding smile. Her sparkling sapphire eyes. Her glossy blonde hair. And Moon have mercy, her body. She was perfection. And her wolf was hardly lacking either. Fur as white as snow with a splodge of grey over her right eye. Inquisitive, ice blue eyes and-

“Are you even listening to me?” Byron demanded, grabbing my shoulder and forcing us to a halt. His brown eyes glared at me.

“Of course I’m listening,” I scoffed, trying to continue walking, but Byron’s grip was strong, keeping me in place.

He raised an eyebrow at me. “Then what have I been talking about these last ten minutes?”

“The rogue,” I said, as if this were obvious.

He grunted impatiently. “After that.”

Shit. After that? When he saw the panicked expression flit across my face, his scowl deepened.

“Damn it Amias, now is not the time for you to daydream!” he exclaimed, punching me in the shoulder before stalking off. I quickly followed, easily keeping pace with him. Although Byron was physically stronger than me and higher up in the pack, I was more agile.

“Look, I’m sorry, alright?” I said, trying my best to sound sincere. In all honesty, I didn’t care if he was pissed at me or not, but it was never good to make enemies of those higher up than you. They could literally make your life a living hell.

“What was so important that you had to blank me, huh?” he asked sulkily, gazing out into the forest. Sometimes, he really did remind me of a small child...

“I was just...thinking about the rogue,” I stuttered, saying the first thing that came to mind.

“What about the rogue?” he questioned, sparing me a glance from the corner of his eye.

“Well, you said that his story was obviously bullshit because his heartbeat increased a bit, right?”
