54) More Than Friendship

"Peter, go get Cass."

"Why do I have to get her?",he whined.

"Because she's yours and I said so. "

"Obviously not.",he crossed his arms.

Out of all of Peter's twenty one years I have never seen him so whiny. Cass was really changing him. Although I'd prefer it if she was mine it was obvious that she was his. Peter never got jealous of any of the girls he was involved with,but Cass was different.

"Stop sulking! She's not going to run away with her ex."

"I didn't say she was.",he turned his head away from me like a child.

"Just shut it and go get her. Lenny wants to talk to us about what happened."

"Whatever.",he walked away to go get her.

When we got to Lenny's we introduced Cass to some of the older ladies that lived with Lenny. I didn't want to leave her with people she didn't know, but Lenny's orders came first. It was my fault that she got taken from us in the first place. I should have known better than to leave her alone with Dylan. I didn't doubt that he could protect her,but he was easily pushed over by her.

Still,I should have known that stupid rouge,Reid, would have partners who would put Cass in danger. Lenny had the look of a killer when the seven of us walked into his office. It was hard to believe that a man who was always gentle and caring with Cass could turn to a man I would be scared of. Then again this wasn't the first time I've seen Lenny angry. Usually, his anger was focused on Peter or Alex though. Seeing his face now makes me respect them more to be able to survive it for that long.

"How could you let this happen to my niece,especially in her state!?"

"Her state?",Kolby bravely questioned.

"She doesn't know about our world!",he turned his gaze to me,"She must have been so scared! Did they hurt her!?"

"No,sir.",His menacing glare sent shivers down my spine.

"They better have not have. It's safe to presume their all dead now?"

I hesitated, knowing he wasn't going to like my answer,"No sir."

"She thinks we should give the rouge back.",Peter informed him.

"She what!?"

"She thinks that he isn't a threat."

"Well is he?"

"He knew what he was doing when he came here,sir."

"All of you except Richard,Dylan,and Peter leave.", They all nodded in unison.

Lenny was definitely going to tear us a new one. All of us have committed an offense at least once against his niece, who we were supposed to be taking care of. I was the person who was in charge of keeping all dangers away from her, yet she gets kidnapped under my watch. Dylan was supposed to be more than Cass' friend, he was supposed to protect her from dangers not lead her to them. Peter's offense was the worst,depending on who you asked,he actually had sex with Lenny's niece without his approval. We were all equally guilty in our failures, but I still hope that I'm not the one Lenny's the most mad at.

"You each have a role to play in my niece's life. So far none of you have exactly proven your worth, it's disappointing."

Like a stab to the heart.

"I'm sorry,sir."

He held his hand up for me to stop,"Why is it that you're always the one that helps my niece into dangerous situations,Dylan?"
