Realization

We were a pair-- partners?
no, scratch that, a couple.
But we were too scared to admit
that fact.

We parted ways, and in those years
separated, I found love from different
people, in different places-- which always ended up dramatically because they can
never be you. There was this hole in
my chest, a void-- the feeling of longing
that only you can replenish.

So I came back when I'm not supposed to.
I wasn't ready to face you, anyway.

But I did.

The moment I saw you, the hole started
filling itself up. It took years to realize what was missing, it took years to lead myself back to where I belong-- to where I felt home.

To you.
-- It was always you.

But you already let me go.
