Just a Peaceful Plane Ride....

There was a peaceful silence, and then interruption.

My phone was ringing, and I was driving a plane.

I've heard of texting and diving, but this was taking it to a totally different level.

Which is exactly why I answered.

"Hey, driving a plane and all, so later..." I said into the tiny speaker, ready to hang it up.

"We know who you are," a bone chilling granite voice answered back, before I had the pleasure of hanging up. The one voice I had hoped never to hear again.

"Wade," I growled into the phone, hoping I wouldn't crush my phone with my clenched fists. "Leave us alone, or so help me-"

"What will you do? Amuse me." He smoothly retorted. I could hear the smile left on his lips, just waiting for me to slap it off.

"I thought so," he continued, after a long pause of silence. "Now to be brief, it's your life, or the girl's."

I looked over to my right, where my pale sleeping guest lay shivering, on the brink of a fever. "Not an option." I coldly said back. I refused to let her go through their type of "hospitality".

"Park the plane or you both die." He said in a dangerously calm voice.

That's when I finally noticed them: two smaller drones on either side of our massive plane, each carrying a massive missile.

My common sense told me to take up their offer. I mean, they might do experiments and never kill her, right? My reckless side told me to preform an epic dive in the air, barely missing the missile as it flew by. Yet another perfect picture...

"Sorry common sense..." I said under my breath, gathering everything of use into a small gym bag I had found when snooping through the bag compartments.

"Come on," I softly said in her ear, picking her up.

"What are you doing, Keenan?" He growled through the phone, sending a shiver of fear down my spine. I had heard that tone before in too many traumatic events.

"Well, now that I thought about it, I would rather die than see your sorry face near her." I growled back, punching down harder than needed on the big red button. Once I got my hands on his pale little neck...

No time now to plan deaths, I had to save some lives first.

With shaking fingers, I recklessly strapped us both in a parachute, deciding that she could never pull the string in time with a fever. I managed to open the door just as the missiles were launched, letting loose a huge wave of fire. The power of the explosion shot us off, quite literally, hurling us towards the yellow barren land scape.

"You just had to attack us right over a desert, didn't you." I mumbled. This felt like we were in a movie, like one of those freak accident scenes where you have to fight a bear for five berries. That would be awesome, but still.

"W-what's happening?" She said, her eyelashes fluttering as her hand feircely clung onto my t-shirt.

"It's okay, sweetie..." I said into her hair. She must've passed out from the pain, thankfully as we were coming down, and fast. This was close enough, it was time to glide in the air.

I jerked down on the string, only to receive burnt ashes.

I cursed. Of all the things the fire could have burnt, it had to burn this? I suddenly realized just how close the ground was becoming.

We weren't going to make it.

This was it.

At least I would finally see Kendall again.

I wonder if her eyes were still blue...

There was wind, and then a jerk.
