When does it stop?
The pain, the suffering
The unnecessary hurt
How much does it take before one realizes
How much they are hurting the one they claim to love?
Will they realize before it’s too late this time?
Will they be in time to stop it or will they be too late?
Will they go to apologize just to find a corpse?
How will they react to what they have caused?
Will they feel regret
Sorrow or pain?
Or will they be happy
Glad that the person is out of their lives?
How will you know if their words are true?
Will you blindly accept their apologies yet again?
Or will you say enough is enough
Will you put the stops to your relationship?
Look them in the eye and say I’m sorry
I just can’t do this.
And turn back to the edge
Whisper “I’ll always love you”
As you take the last step
Right over the edge
Ending the pain for good?
