My Wayward Heart

My Wayward Heart

The wind blows my way,

Sending chills down my body,

A soft whisper spoken in my ear,

I turn to the voice and see no one,

I wrap my arms around me tighter,

Try to think of happy memories,

To calm my wayward heart,

I close my eyes,

I hear soft footsteps,

I turn towards the footsteps,

It's coming closer,

Than I see a ghost of my love,

My love's brutal death flashes in my mind

Tears in my eyes,

I try to wipe them but they keep pouring out,

The closer he comes the more sobs break out,

I keep shaking in horror,

Once he is in front of me he wraps his arms around me,

Kisses me gently on my forehead,

In shock I raise my hand to where he kissed me,

I see a pale, ghostly hand rise as my hand,

I realize then I have joined him in his journey to the other world.
