It was my sixteenth birthday today. Mother and father were setting up party decorations (like I really wanted a big party. I mean, I'm sixteen, big whoop, but I appreciated it) and I was texting my best friend, Ollie. He was sick, so he wasn't coming. Instead, his twin sister, Kira, was coming. She was in my geometry class, but I never spoke to her that much. Only in class for partners, or at Ollie's house.

I watched as my dad hung the last of the streamers in the living room.

'That ought to do it. Now, we'll get the cake and you watch for guests. We'll be back in about forty-five minutes." My mother said. They left, and I watched out the window as they drove away. I flopped down on the couch and flipped the TV on. I was skimming the channels when the doorbell rang.

"Hello?"

I answered the door. It was Kira, with a large present.

"Come in, Kira. My parents are getting the cake for the party, so just make yourself at home. By the way, how's Ollie?" I asked. We sat on the couch.
